"OK, my friends... here we go. I received my Groove Percussion all-maple set last week and it does look gorgeous. I am amazed with its finish, the solid-made lugs, the woods, and so on. I cannot believe that I paid less than $350 for this amazing set. Now, I would like to point out some aspects that all of us drummers take in consideration when buying a set: THE SIZE OF THE SHELLS: Well, they don't mention the depths in the description - but the sizes are 24x14 (BD), 10x8 (T), 12x9 (T), 18x16 (FT) and 14x6.5 (SD). However, when I read the description the first time it showed (as the actual picture does) the toms as 13"" and 14"". They have changed the description after my set shipped and I got 10"" and 12"" ones. WOODS: All-maple, warm sounding, heavy and loud shells. LUGS: chrome-plated, easy to tune, vintage Gretsch/Slingerland-looking small lugs. And they stay in tune - That's what matters, right? HEADS: Their stock heads are not great - but even with them on I was able to tune the set, sit down and feel the warmth of the shells. I bet they will sound huge once I get the Remo Emperors they deserve. SNARE DRUM: Well, the snare drum is my only real issue. It looks great, and I bet it can sound great as well... But, my strainer was placed unevenly, and the bottom side of the shell was also sanded unevenly. So, I am sending it back for an exchange. I am sure that not all snares out there are like mine. So, that's cool. HARDWARE: GP's hardware is light-weight. I cannot say much here because I played my set along with my Pearl chain pedal and 800w hardware. But again, for the price I paid, everything is great still. OVERALL: I give 4.5 stars just because of the snare thing. Would I rather have received the 13"" and 14"" toms they advertised previously? Probably yes, because that's what was promised in the description... but, for this price you will never find anything that sounds or looks even close to this set. I am very happy with it. Oh, and just in case you are wondering: I own SBX and ELX Pearl sets. Have played on DWs, Ludwigs, Slingerlands, Gretschs, Oderys and so on... So, I can say for sure that this is a true BEST BUY. Cool? Peace!"
