These sticks are actually pretty good. These 7A's have a little more "beef" than regular 7A's. They are almost a 5A in grip size, but being made of maple, they are lighter and faster. Also, they are a 1/2" shorter than standard sized sticks (these sticks are 15 1/2", standard sticks are 16"). This helps with the quick feeling factor as well. I like the large teardrop shaped tips. Makes cymbals sound very full and warm, and brings out articulate tones. They do feel very good. The only thing keeping me from rating them higher is quality control. Even though they come paired in sleeves, they are most certainly not paired based on weight or tone like more expensive sticks are. I tried these out in person at a Sam Ash store by rolling them, and most of the sticks were not 100% straight. A vast majority of them were slightly warped (about 80-90%), but useable. Some were very straight, others were pretty badly warped. I would recommend that you try them out in person so you can roll them and see for yourself...through the mail you are taking your chances. If you manage to get straight ones, they do feel very good and I enjoy using them!

"I like these sticks a lot. I prefer maple sticks over hickory, and these feel great in my hand. They are a little shorter than most sticks (these are 15 3/4"" vs. the standard 16""), but I like it that way; it gives me more control. The teardrop shaped tips are excellent for full cymbal sounds. I own Vic-Firth and Vater Maple models, and those are currently sitting in my stickbag while I use these. Hey, they feel good and are a great price too! Try them out and experiment with them, you'll be glad you did!"
