I just started playing again after a 25 year hiatus. I had picked up a strat copy with a decnt little Line 6 amp at a garage sale that was a piece of junk and knew I wanted to get another electric guitar. Back in the day I was partial to the Gretsch sound and I also had an original 61 Gibson SG. I visited several Music stores and was having a hard time deciding what I wanted. Since I did not want to spend over $1000, I had almost resigned myself to an Epi SG or Paul copy. I was back out hitting the stores again but couldn't find anything that lit mt fire. The salesman said to take a look at some of the other clones before I made my decision.When I first saw the Jet Jr, I thought it was just another LP knock off. Them I saw the Gretsch name on the headstock and said Whoa! A Gretsch for under $300 bucks??I first fell in love with the Gretsch sound when I saw George Harrison playing one with the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I decided that night I would have one some day. After working nights and weekends almost all through high school, I finally saved the money for a new 68 Tennesean. After getting married, having kids, and then losing my job, regretfully I had to sell it. I've wanted another Gretsch almost to the day. 35 years of mortages, kids, college, etc etc had almost made me forget about ever owning another Gretsch. Anyway I picked up the Jet Jr and really liked the feel of it. This is a heavy guitar but it does balance pretty good. It just feels real solid. I was sure when I plugged it in, it would show it was a [$] guitar. Boy, was I surprised! I plugged it in to a Vox 30 watt amp and hit a G chord. I just turned around, put it down and told the salesman we were going to find a case. This guitar has the classic Gretsch sound and plays like a dream. The setup was dead on, no fret buzz, super low action, and the mini humbuckers produce no noise at all.Mine is the tobacco sunburst and the fit and finish is as good or better than some $1000.00+ guitars you will see. This thing looks fantastic. The finish appears to be a high gloss urethane, but surprisingly, it doesn't leave a lot of fingerprints when you play it. The bridge, tuners, and pickups all have a deep chrome finish that looks really good.There are only 3 recommendations that I can make. 1-Invest in a good hardshell case. 2-Invest in a good comfortable well padded strap (this baby is heavy). 3-Trash the factory strings asap. I've been using Gibson light humbucker strings that I think they call Les Paul Humbuckers and they sound and play great.If you're looking for a guitar to get the LP sound and don't want to spend upwards of 2 grand, run to your closest [...] and try one of these. You can get out the door with my recommended extras for still less than $450.00 You won't be sorry!

Ok, The Gretsch JR Jet II
plays well, nice Neck, Looks real nice I have the "Tobacco Sunburst" talk anout a scarp looking Guitar? But don't take my word for it, go to the store and have a look, and feel for your self. Then play it on an Amp!

I really love ac/dc adn there rythm guitar player's guitar is a gretsch. While playing the jet to the soundtrack i was amazed how exact the sound was. The Humbuckers rule! The tunners on the headstock are deluxe klusons so they are vintage and go out of tome with a few bends. I got some groovers and the guitar is staying in tune great.
