Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic Guitar with Hardshell Case
The Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard: vintage, square-shouldered, dreadnought tone and power that features a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. A carved 1-piece, quarter-sawn mahogany neck offers stability along with select Indian rosewood fingerboard for warmth. Cosmetic appointments include "50th Anniversary" engraved on the truss-rod cover, "50" inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the headstock and engraved "Hummingbird" pickguard. Period-correct touches with scalloped top bracing offers superb resonance. Includes a Gibson Custom hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
To highlight these as Limited Edition guitars, however, all will have "50th Anniversary" engraved on the truss-rod cover; in addition, the 200 mahogany body editions will have "50" inlaid in mother-of-pearl on the headstock face, while the 50-each exotic rosewood and Koa models will have "50" inlaid in 18k gold. Gold-plated vintage-Kluson-style Gotoh tuners with pearloid "keystone" buttons grace the headstock, while a genuine bone nut and a genuine bone saddle in the traditional "belly up" Indian rosewood bridge work together to ensure pure warm, ringing, vintage-style tone.
In short, the 50th Anniversary 1960 Hummingbird is the quickest route to that unparalleled vintage square-shouldered dreadnought tone and power.
Body and Finish
The 50th Anniversary 1960 Hummingbird is crafted from the classic tonewood combination of Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides—all solid woods—and top braces joined with hot hide glue. The back and sides of the 50th Anniversary Custom Exotic Rosewood and Custom "AAA" Koa models differ according to their names. The first two versions are finished in Heritage Dark Cherry Sunburst, while the Koa model is finished in a Custom Gold HoneyBurst.
Neck and Headstock
The guitar's neck and headstock are made in the classic tradition of the original 1960 Hummingbird, with the 24 3/4" scale length that draws so many players to Gibson acoustics. Carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn mahogany, the design incorporates Gibson's lauded 17-degree back-angled headstock and is topped with a rosewood fingerboard.
Inlays
The fingerboard of the Hummingbird carries Gibson's mother-of-pearl split-parallelogram position markers, a popular inlay on many up-market Gibson guitars and a distinctive feature of Hummingbirds since 1960.
Logo
The traditional, period-correct Gibson logo is inlaid in mother of pearl across the top of a holly headstock veneer. The 50th Anniversary 1960 Hummingbird also has a mother-of-pearl "50" inlay in the headstock face, while the "50" in the two custom shop models is inlaid in 18k gold.
Hardware
The Hummingbird carries the classic hardware accompaniment seen of several legendary Gibson flat-tops. A "belly-up" Indian rosewood bridge and genuine bone saddle keep it all tonally true at the business end, while gold-plated vintage-Kluson™-style Gotoh™ tuners combine a traditional 1960s look with outstanding tuning efficiency.
