Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010
When the Gibson Nighthawk was originally released back in 1993, Gibson set out to build a guitar with a wide range of sounds by placing a coil tap switch which doubles as a tone control knob. When this switch was pulled up or down, the humbuckers were converted to single coil, thus making the Nighthawk extremely versatile. Gibson had an instant success on their hands! The Gibson Nighthawk won Top Design Award from Music Trades Magazine at the 1993 National Association of Music Merchants Show.
Popular to this day, the Nighthawk was lighter than its Les Paul cousins, less expensive and more versatile. By the time 1999 rolled around, the Gibson Nighthawk was discontinued.
Well here we are in 2010, and it’s back!
We’re proud to bring you the re-instated, brand-new, Gibson Nighthawk Standard 2010!
The body has a Quilted Maple Top enriched with light black stain (really “pops” the grain) with a Poplar back, and the neck is constructed from beautiful, strong maple, noted for its excellent resistance to abrasion, indentation, and shock. It has a Rosewood fingerboard with stunning gold hardware.
For the electronics, there’s a pair of BurstBucker humbucking pickups – a BB1 in the neck and a BB2 in the bridge with a 5-way selector. 2 knobs, a Volume push/pull for the Rhythm coil tap and a Tone push/pull for the Treble coil tap are within easy reach, just below the bridge.
At a mere 4.6lbs, the Gibson Nighthawk is a joy to hold and behold! Its versatility covers a wide range of genres making it quite possibly a true “EveryGuitar”! The Gibson Nighthawk 2010 is available in 3 eye-grabbing colors; St. Louis Sauce, Chicago Blue and Memphis Mojo. Comes with a hardshell case.
