Gibson Midtown Standard P-90 Electric Guitar with Hardshell Case
The Midtown Standard P-90 combines the best of legendary solidbody and archtop designs from Gibson USA’s historic past with modern styling to come up with the ultimate hybrid Gibson. Taking a cue from the Les Paul’s chambered body design, the Midtown Standard starts with a solid mahogany body that is strategically chambered for optimum resonance and weight relief. The body shape is based on the iconic Gibson ES-335, but is scaled down to a more player friendly body size that increases comfort, yet still maintains that Gibson tradition, built with solid-wood construction rather than a laminated top and back.
A solid mahogany neck is carved to a fast, comfortable '60s-style profile that measures .800" at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th, and capped with a bound Grade-A rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets. The thinner neck profile will feel right at home in your fretting hand as you fly up and down the fretboard. The body and fingerboard are accentuated with white binding along the edges, creating a classic, clean vintage look; while mirror dot inlays adorn the fingerboard.
The electronic schematic puts a pair of Gibson's legendary P-90 pickups front and center. These history making pickups have a fatter tone than the average single-coils, and have provided classic tone that spans generations and genres. Each pickup is made to the same specs as the vintage examples that made the P-90 famous, including coils wound from 42-AWG wire with two Alnico V magnets loaded beneath each pickup. To keep it all simple, Gibson USA routes these pickups through the traditional 3-way toggle switch and master volume and tone controls with classic gold Speed Knobs.
The Midtown Standard P-90 features the timeless pairing of a Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece to maximize sustain. Up top is a PLEK-cut Corian nut, paired with a set of premium Grover Keystone tuners. The Midtown P-90 Standard comes protected in a plush-lined hardshell case.
