The Les Paul Classic Custom features a mahogany body that employs Gibson’s weight relief construction technique. The body is mapped out with several well placed routed holes to reduce the potential excessive weight; as well as enhancing acoustic qualities and improving resonance. The weight is significantly reduced which maximizes player comfort. The body is then capped with a solid carved maple top, capturing the iconic look of the Les Paul Custom we’ve loved for decades. All the glory of yesteryear is preserved, while retaining a look and feel that’s contemporary as ever. The Les Paul Classic Custom is available in your choice of five stunning high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes: Antique Natural, Goldtop, Cream, Wine Red and Ebony Black.
To preserve the Gibson tradition of unsurpassed tone, the Les Paul Classic Custom is outfitted with a pair of '57 Classic humbucking pickups. These Alnico II equipped pickups deliver the sounds of decades past, yet capable of the most up to the minute molten metal tones. The electronics are completed by the traditional layout if two separate volume and tone controls for each pickup, along with three-way switch.
A quarter-sawn mahogany neck is carved to a comfortably slim tapered 60s style profile that measures .800" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 12th. For the fingerboard, Gibson has employed a new environmentally sound technique in response to the growing scarcity of tonewoods like rosewood and ebony. This updated Les Paul sports a maple fingerboard that has gone through a process known as “torrifying”; which involves baking the maple in a special oven which increases water resistance and hardens the wood to create an ebony-like feel. Aesthetically; this process transforms the maple to give a more rosewood like appearance. The neck is capped with 22 medium jumbo frets, those familiar block inlays, and a radius of 12" for easy playability and smooth effortless string-bending.
The Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom is rounded out by a set of premium Grover kidney-button tuners along with a chromed Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece combo. A protective Gibson hardshell case is included.
