Dressed in the minimalist Studio style, these guitars nevertheless offer a stunning new look in two commemorative high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes, inspired by the swirled patterns of the receding flood waters: Marbleized Blue Swirl Burst, and Marbleized Green Swirl. This Les Paul Studio starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. Underneath the solid top, several strategically placed tone chambers enhances resonance while also reducing the guitar’s overall weight considerably, without sacrificing an ounce of punch or sustain. The glued-in solid-mahogany neck is cut in the “quarter-sawn” grain orientation for superior strength and optimum resonance transfer between neck and body. The elegant chrome hardware includes a Tune-o-Matic bridge/stopbar tailpiece combination to maximize sustain, rounded out by a set of Grover tuners to maintain tuning stability. The Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio boasts a pair of Gibson USA’s humbucking pickups. The neck position 490R has vintage-wound coils and an Alnico II magnet for smooth, fat rhythm playing or traditional blues and jazz soloing; the bridge position 498T is wound a little hotter, with a punchy Alnico V magnet, for screaming lead tones.
