Gibson 50th Anniversary Pete Townshend SG Electric Guitar with Hardshell Case
The Who were at the peak of their rock & roll powers between the late 1960s and early 1970s. During this glorious time, Pete Townshend was leading the charge with his SG Special guitars; taking rock & roll into what then was unchartered sonic territory. To celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the instrument behind this legendary era of Who performances and recordings, Gibson USA releases the 50th Anniversary Pete Townshend SG Special. This guitar commemorates the choice instrument Townshend used for the first British Quadrophenia shows in late 1972 and early '73, before switching to a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe for the remainder of the '70s.
The 50th Anniversary Pete Townshend SG Special remains true to its heritage, with a body made from solid mahogany, and carved into the familiar thin bodied ultra-comfortable contoured SG shape finished in Alpine White. The glued-in neck is made from solid quarter-sawn mahogany. The electronics feature a pair of potent P-90 pickups with genuine Alnico V magnets and 42-AWG wire, they produce the punchy midrange and searing rockin' highs. Hardware includes Grover kidney button tuners and a wraparound bridge for tuning stability.A 'WHO' stenciled Gibson USA Hardshell Case is included.
