Gibraltar's Ultra Adjust hi hat stand allows the player to position the stand in a comfortable leg playing position and independently position the hi hat cymbals for best playing placement. Gibraltar accomplished this utilizing the patented Ultra Adjust system. These two gearless positioning points give up to eight inches displacement for the upper section of the hi hat. Allowing the player to have the best of both worlds, positioning for the leg base section and independent placing for hi hat cymbals.

Comments about Gibraltar 9607MLUA Ultra Adjust Hi Hat Stand:
I first purchased Gibraltar's original Ultra-Adjust hi hat stand in 2008. I've been using the stand ever since. I'm 6 ft 4" and I use double bass drum pedals with one bass drum (and have three rack toms), so to be able to put the stand in a spot where it fits with my double pedal and is comfortable for placement of my foot, yet get the hat cymbals where I want them, works great for me. My body is perfectly balanced with both feet spaced apart evenly. Even if you're not 6 ft 4", you'll find this design very convenient. Because it is cable "driven" and not a straight rod like a standard stand, the feel will be a bit different. I don't find it a huge difference, and was able to adapt to the difference in a relatively short while. NOW - Gibraltar has come out with a new 9707ML-UA Ultra Adjust that adds a third adjustment point. The vertical tube that holds the cymbals adjusts up and down and swivels side to side as well. Great idea! I just received one. The cable is "beefier" too. With double pedals and three rack toms, the new Ultra Adjust works beautifully for me - perfect. I suggest going to your local music store (or get online-you can return it) and trying out the New Ultra Adjust for yourself. Set it up with a drum kit, with a layout similar to yours; place the stand where you want it, get out a drum key and start making adjustments. Then play it. Give it some time. After a while you might wonder how you got along without it before.

Comments about Gibraltar 9607MLUA Ultra Adjust Hi Hat Stand:
I received this 2 hours ago, and I have packed it back in the box now to return it tomorrow. It looks great, but it is unstable-the legs don't fully extend down, the cable is too short and restricts movement and placement. I waited a while to get this because I recently switched to dbl bass, and wanted my hats closer, but this needs some modifications-increase cable length and fix the leg issue.

Comments about Gibraltar 9607MLUA Ultra Adjust Hi Hat Stand:
Sadly, I too bought this thinking it was the perfect idea. The cable broke less than three months later. I tried contacting Gibraltar(seven E-Mails and two phone calls) but never got a response.I suggested to them if they designed it like the Tama or the DW assembly, where the cable can move freely, it would last forever... Big waste of money and the time and frustration you'll endure as soon as the cable breaks.

This Hi-hat is incredible, very stable....... it is awesome until the cable broke after two years...... Ive tried other Gibraltar stands... but no hi hat stand can compare the stability and versatility of this one..... if you are rich i would recommend it, but if you´re trying to get something that is going to last forever.... you should try for DW...

I used the stand for a little less than a year. I loved it until the cable broke. Looks like a design flaw to me. Gibraltar is going to repair it, [...] I'm furious, to say the least. I will never deal with either company again.

Comments about Gibraltar 9607MLUA Ultra Adjust Hi Hat Stand:
Bought this when it first came out, so probably paid too much. I had just transitioned from single to double bass (after thirty years!!) and hi hat placement was a pain. This is a very good answer to the problem, but not perfect. It comes with no instructions (not necessary, but would've been helpful), and the pedal feel is a little mushy. I've played Tama pedals for a long time...much more sensitive and responsive. I now use a single bass drum with a double pedal, and this hi-hat does a terrific job! I'm able to place the hhat pedal next to the left bass pedal, but my hhat cymbals are close to my snare (my preference). I've had no issues with the quality and stability...I've used it in several live performances with no issues.

Cable snapped after three-months. Can't purchase a replacement cable, have to send the entire stand back to Gibraltar. Wasted my time and money. Don't waste yours, by the real deal - DW.
