My buddy owns this guitar, and even though I have an ESP/LTD, I still use it because SG's are just fun, versatile guitars. The only bad thing is the pickups, because most Epiphone stock pickups are muddy. However, they are very warm sounding.

I bought this guitar this weekend. Wow what a beautiful instrument. Great looks, great feel, great sound and sustain. Now I just need a better amp! Well worth the money. One thing though. In looking at the g400 online and in the store, I noticed that they were all stamped "100% setup in the USA", have the gold star limited warranty on the pick guard, handcrafted in China, and had a one piece neck. My guitar didn't have any of these(made in Indonesia). The right bolt on the bridge was tightened too hard from the factory and it looked as though the wood could crack. Still beautiful though, but it bugged me. I promptly returned it[...] and got a new guitar. It looks as though the first one should have been stamped a second(my opinion). The second (and China made guitar) had all of the QA/QC certifications and was set up perfectly prior to going to the store for sale.

I bought this at a local music store and i am reviewing it everywhere i see it mentioned. This is the best guitar i've ever played. I have played les pauls, ibanezes, and many many other guitars and this trumps them all, especially in this price range. The ONLY problem i had with it is that if you put bad strings on and dont string it right, there is a slight fret buzz, but with the right strings, this problem doesnt exist, it has great sound and tone and i use it for all my band's playing.

Great feel, amazing tone for the price range, stays in tune, and just good looking. What more could you want? I loved this guitar. I still have it, and I'd still would be using it if I hadn't upgraded to an SG.

I bought this guitar last December. I was originally going to by a Gibson SG, but they said I wasn't ready. So, I had to buy this one. It's not bad, though. It's got a nice sound for classic rock and it's good for jamming and improv. The neck is a problem, and playing certain riffs are difficult. The looks are pretty good, but I would have gone for the "real deal". And the strings are durable for just around 4-5 mos. and all of a sudden, my high E string broke when I wasn't even using it. To put it short, it's a pretty good guitar, but I'd buy a real Gibson one.

As far as moderately priced guitars go ($250-$500) I think Epiphone is the best value on the market. I have had 3 of their guitars (G310,LP100, and now the G400) and all have been of great quality, great sound, at a great price. I bought the G400 yesterday and am thrilled. It is extremely well made, delivers great sound from the two altnico humnbuckers, has a very thin and fast neck, and top notch finish. I got the cherry version and the pictures online do not the finish justice. The tone is excellent - Anywhere from a nice warm sound to lots of bite at high gain. I did have to adjust the action a bit, but that is a matter of personal preference. The only negative I can find (and I am being very picky) is it is heavy at the headstock due to the mahogany neck. Great, great guitar overall !! [...] A great experience from start to end !!

all around great guitar it's easier to play this than the epiphone les paul. I own the g400 and the les paul. the G400 is fairly easy to play on the high frets and it's a very light weight guitar. the les paul is not.

At first I wanted a Gibson, but way to $$$. I find this guitar just as good. Humbuckers are great and the guitar feels and looks awesome. Great for the price. Frets buzz a little bit, but it is still awesome. Rock on!
