The MC5 knew how to stand out in the crowd. They came roaring out of Detroit in the midst of the mellow West-Coast dominated psychedelia/flower power movement of the late 60’s and delivered some of the most powerful sounds ever recorded. The primary architect of that revolutionary sound was guitarist Wayne Kramer. His weapon of choice was a custom stars and stripes painted Fender Stratocaster. Fender introduces a recreation of that infamous and iconic Stratocaster. Fender has painstakingly recreated Wayne’s distinctive home-made U.S. flag finish, with a red-and-white striped body and blue with white star patterned pickguard and headstock. In replicating Wayne Kramer’s modifications from his heyday with the MC5, this guitar features a potent Seymour Duncan® ’59 humbucking pickup in the middle position in tandem with the vintage-style single-coil Stratocaster neck and bridge pickups. The body is made from alder and the maple C-shaped neck features a larger late ‘60’s-’70s-style headstock with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard and a vintage-correct 7.25” radius and traditional-style smaller frets. Chrome hardware includes Fender/Schaller® vintage-style “F” tuners and an American Vintage hard-tail string-through-body bridge. A final custom feature on the Wayne Kramer Stratocaster is a chrome neck-plate engraved with the phrase “This Tool Kills Hate”. Deluxe gig bag included.
