The Telecaster family went through an expansion in 1972 with the introduction of the Telecaster Deluxe. Sporting a radical new look, while retaining the classic Tele body shape, the Telecaster Deluxe was an immediate hit. The alder body also features a dazzling metal flake finish available in 3 colors: Aqua Flake, Vegas Gold, and Tangerine Flake. In an effort to compete with other famous electric solid body guitars that feature humbucking pickups, Fender introduced their own version of the humbucker resulting in the Wide Range humbucker, designed by Seth Lover. The Wide Range Humbucker produces a bright, unique sound with power to spare. This Telecaster Deluxe is armed with a pair of Wide Range Humbuckers and a 3 position switch; possessing a very unique voice and has been heavily associated with some of rock & roll’s biggest icons. Fender’s Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe boasts a period-correct early-’70s 1 piece gloss lacquer finish maple neck with a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt™ adjustment, bullet truss rod nut and vintage-style “F” tuners. The use of a Stratocaster style “large headstock” shape gave the Deluxe an unmistakable identity. The neck is carved into a C-shaped profile, and the 21 fret maple fingerboard has a more modern flatter 12” radius. The flatter radius facilitates more luxurious string bending and faster playability. Other features include a three-position switch with aged white tip, three-ply pickguard, vintage-style six-saddle strings-through-body Stratocaster hardtail bridge, and skirted amp control knobs.
