The five-string Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V guitar was designed with the gigging bass player in mind. This alder-body bass offers classic styling and modern features such as a comfortable C-shaped maple neck with 20-fret pau ferro fingerboard, four-ply brown shell pickguard on a variety of finishes, two dual-coil ceramic Noiseless™ five-string Jazz Bass pickups with nickel-plated pole pieces, and a three-band active EQ with treble, mid and bass boost/cut. Distinctively attractive looking with a clear, thunderous sound.

I have played one of these several times for about 6 hours total time. It took over an hour to figure out how to get different sounds, but once I did it was easy from then on. If you can only afford one bass this is a good one. By tweaking the controls you can go from all lows to all highs without having to change anything on your amp. I used it with a GK with the EQ set flat and just used the bass controls and got all the different tones I needed. I agree about the MIM brand - this is worth the money; probably worth more than it's selling for.

What else can I say about this bass, than AWESOME. I bought the Vintage White version. The finish is amazing, and the sound is INCREDIBLE!! You can get just about any sound you want with this bass. Whether it is ROCK, JAZZ, BLUES, SALSA, you name it. I must warn you though. You really have to fiddle with the controls a bit. You'll have to spend lots of time with this rig! I highly recommend changing the strings, cause it will give a bit of fuzz, but what else do you expect when you have "factory-strings". I havent had problems with my straps like the other reviewers, but take it from me, this bass aint worth [$], this is a DEAL. I honestly think its worth twice that. And please, dont let that MADE IN MEXICO thing fool you. This bass is worth every penny. You dont need any effects pedals with this. Just plug this baby in to your amp, and you'll have a monster. Hear it growl. A MUST BUY

This is just a great guitar. The tone is great. All the aftermarket modifications fender made is incredible. Its a well equipped guitar. The neck feeling is comfortable. I have small hands and I can grip this neck perfectly. I love everything about this jazz.
