This is a preliminary review, and will be updated soon. I received my guitar about a week ago, and was immediately pleased. Great looking axe! [*]. I went over the guitar with a fine-toothed comb and found problems. The pickup wraps were loose, and will probably trap more dirt than they keep out. The tuning machines weren't aligned properly, and one had been screwed down so tight that it cracked the headstock finish. The volume and tone knobs weren't aligned properly either, and when the coil is "tapped", the knob wobbles. CHEAPO components. I've never had quality issues with any fender product before, so this all came as a surprise. [*]! Now that being said, the guitar is perfectly functional, has great tone and is a joy to play. I did initially experience the low-E buzz that some reviewers have commented on, but a few quick turns with the allen key took care of that. [...] My "yes" recommendation is based solely on the tone and playability of the guitar, and certainly NOT it's craftsmanship. The 3 stars takes it into account. More later.

this is my third - meaning that I currently own 3, not that i've returned 2. Granted I've swapped the pickups out for emg's. the atomic II ain't bad but it ain't an emg either.

I love the medium jumbo frets, the feel, the hard-tail bridge, the neck feel/shape, the neck joint, the body shape, the growl for gain, the mid-range melodicism of clean playing (the last two owing to the mahogany neck and body combo), and the looks, I guess. For me the looks are really secondary. The flame maple top is gorgeous, and while the abalone fret markers had some imperfections (chips at edges), the coloring on each was gorgeous too. Still, I don't really care about that. My first two of this model don't have fmt or fret markers. And that's fine by me.

With my modifications, I cannot think of a more beautiful yet powerful guitar that i've ever played or owned. It's jam-worthy, road-worthy, recording-worthy, and noodle-worthy.

Perfect for rhythm and lead work. Perfect for rock, jazz, metal, or rockabilly - as far as I'm concerned (and I'm picky).

I bought this guitar because it has everything (except the pickups) that I ever wanted in a guitar.

"This is a great guitar out for starters. I'm a kinda guy who likes to play extremely fast, so if you want to play real fast, look at a Jackson, or even Stratocaster. This is a fantastic rhythem guitar."
