This is simply the perfect bass. When mine arrived this morning, I took it out and it was already in tune with a good setup. Other than the strings, I would not change a single thing on this bass. I've owned P-basses in the past, and this one sets the bar the highest and is the pinnacle of perfection and simplicity. Other than an upgraded bridge and tuners, there has been no need to change anything on this bass since this specific style was introduced in 1957. Its simplicity lets you focus on your playing rather than tweaking 7 different knobs to find the sound you want. It's already there: nothing gets in the way of making the sound you want to make.

The finish is flawless, the tuners are the best, easiest, most accurate tuners I've ever used. The neck is thicker than a Jazz bass but amazingly fast and easy to play. I feel like the neck was made specifically for my left hand.

Overall, this bass sounds fantastic even with the cheap stock strings. It's so well made, it beckons you to pick it up and play it. I am making a fretless bass myself, but I see no need to own any other bass. The Precision has been the hallmark and the standard for basses for 60 years, and in my opinion, there is no better instrument.

A solid, versital bass that is more than I will ever need. I only changed the strings to flats and I can't find any reason to upgrade anything else on this bass as it is dressed with top of the line parts anyways. I have the maple fingerboard and it plays like butter. The tone is exactly what I would expect a P-Bass to be. Also, this bass is gorgous and the finish was perfect.

A timeless bass standard that I will one day hand down to my son. This bass is now my main player as nothing else compares. The olympic white finish and the build quality came perfect. (Fender has stepped up their game with the newer US models). I have the maple neck version and it now plays super smooth after just a little bit of adjustment and a switch to flats. Just a solid players bass.

At this time just using this P Bass for at home practice. I ran it through many different amps at the local Sam Ash store. This bass sounded superior running through anything. I brought it home, retuned it, and pluged it into my Marshall. The sound and overall feel of the bass is simply everything advertised and more. The pickups and bridge work well. This bass doesn't need anything repalced on it as some do. Yes, it has a hefty price tag. But if you consider using a lower grade bass, and the cost of replacement parts and the labor, (by a real repair station), you may find you are at or about the the same price as the American Standard. The Fender SKB hard shell case is well worth it as well. If you can swing it, give yourself a hard core proformer bass. Great choices of body colors and fingerboard combinations too. My choice was Olympic White, and maple. Go for it.

The bass is symple great, sound like a monster, but is very heavy and don't have enough frets, it's a classic, try one and you will love it!
