A carved maple top is paired with a solid mahogany body and offers high-end clarity and sustain. This classic tonewood combination is outfitted with Gibson’s acclaimed BurstBucker™ humbuckers, a BB2 in the neck and a hotter BB3 in the bridge. BurstBuckers™ are Gibson's most accurate recreation of the legendary PAF humbuckers of the late '50s and early '60s, and include details like unpolished Alnico II magnets and unequal turns of 42 AWG wire on each bobbin, which results in the added "edge" or "bite" for which genuine PAFs are famous. To combat microphonic squeal at high volumes, however, these BurstBuckers are double vacuum wax potted, a must for the high-gain guitarist. The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Signature Goldtop Les Paul upholds the Gibson tradition with a glued-in solid mahogany neck. The neck is carved into a full, rounded neck profile that is based on Gibson specs of the late 1950’s and will feel extremely comfortable in your fretting hand. Add a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets with a 12" radius and you will not want to put this guitar down. The Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Studio’s maple top is finished with a Vintage style Metallic Gold top, complemented by black sides, back and neck, black plastic trim, mismatched gold and amber "Top Hat" control knobs, with "Bonamassa" engraved in the truss-rod cover—and this is a truly eye-catching instrument. Chrome hardware includes kidney-button Grovers™ ensure outstanding tuning stability, while a Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece provide the accurate intonation and sustain that has made this hardware set famous for six decades.
