RHYTHMIC JOURNEY features drum grooves and samples from ex-Journey drummer STEVE SMITH, recorded by Aerosmith sound engineer Kevin Elson at Fantasy Studios in San Francisco. As many of you are aware, Steve Smith is one of the world's most revered drummers. With the group Journey, Steve established himself as a tour-de-force groove master. His drumming was heard on such hit songs as “Don't Stop Believin” and “Separate Ways”. He even played drums on Bryan Adams’ smash “Heaven”. What most musicians heard in his playing was a lot more than straight grooves; his drum parts were compositions! Not too busy, but very interesting and anything but ordinary. RHYTHMIC JOURNEY was co-produced by David Frangioni and Doug Rogers, who collectively have produced many top-rated sample collections (Bob Clearmountain Drums 1 & 2, Dance/Industrial 1 & 2, Funky Ass Loops, Smoov Grooves, Phat & Phunky, Steve Stevens etc.).
Needless to say the grooves on RHYTHMIC JOURNEY are flawless and sound phenominal - pre mixed by Elson, Frangioni and Rogers. There are also individual sounds for drum replacement or those that want to construct their own grooves with the included sounds. These grooves stay out of the way; yet provide a solid foundation as only a drummer of Steve Smith’s calibre can deliver. The combined experience of Elson, Frangioni, Rogers and Smith has produced one of the best sounding and best performed drum loop CDs of all time.
