This EMG pickup addition uses Alnico V magnets instead of the ceramic magnets of the original. Because the JA utilizes Alnico V magnets coupled with short, squat coils, the tone is endowed with openness and warmth for a more vintage tone, all with less noise and more signal.
The X series provide increased headroom giving the voicing an organic and open tone while still maintaining the clarity and response that EMG's are renowned for. X's are best described as bridging the gap between passive and active tone. Available in black only.
