Drum Workshop Performance Series 4-Piece Drums Shell Set
This Performance Series 4-piece drums shell set is a Drum Workshop drum set in every way. No detail has been overlooked, no corners have been cut. Its look and sound are decidedly DW. Custom inspired, with a new Quarter Turret lug, low mass die-cast claw hooks, new badge, logo head and hand-sprayed Specialty Lacquer finishes, it's designed to get noticed and most importantly, Performance drums sound like what you'd expect from DW. Easy to tune, superior sounding ‘HVX’ shells, along with DW heads by Remo USA, STM™ (Suspension Tom Mounts), True Pitch™ Tuning and DW 45 degree back-cut bearing edges, all make these drums sing.
The drums shell set featured here includes an 18”x22” bass drum, a 9”x12” tom, 14”x16” floor tom and a matching 6-1/2”x14” snare drum. A stands for the tom is not included so that you may choose from several different mounting options.
The 12” tom can be mounted to a cymbal stand using the D991 single tom clamp. A medium- to heavy-weight stand is recommended for stability. DW also offers the D9999 combination single tom and cymbal boom stand, which is excellent for mounting the tom and a cymbal from the same very stable heavy-duty stand.

Maple HVX Shells
Performance Series offers a brand new shell technology devised by John Good and the DW Custom Shell Shop in California. Combining the latest grain orientation technology and hand-selected North American Hard Rock Maple, Performance Series' proprietary HVX shells (Horizontal/Vertical/Diagonal X Grain) deliver a low, punchy fundamental, with ample resonance and projection that's perfectly suited for live applications but is also loved by the mics.
Performance Snares feature 10-ply HVX shells, while the 10" through 16" drums, along with all Bass Drums, feature 8-ply HVX construction.
Hardware
STM™ - Suspension Tom Mount DW's patented STM™ (suspension tom mount) system allows drums to vibrate freely, allowing maximum resonance while securely holding the drum in place. Because there are no washers or grommets inhibiting the lug rod receiver, choking is reduced and tuning is as easy as ever.
Performance Series drums are available exclusively with brilliant chrome hardware. This includes lugs, hoops, STM™ and tom legs. The Performance Series "turret lug" is a scaled-down version of the famous round DW lug, while the snare drums get a unique tub-lug look all their own.
The floor tom legs are DW’s standard 21” chrome-plated steel.
Hoops - Performance Series are available exclusively with Chrome Standard Triple Flange Hoops to give your drums a great and versatile sound.
True-Pitch® Tuning Rods - To give drummers even more control over their sound, DW created its patented True-Pitch® rod system. The rods feature 10/32 threads rather than the 10/24 that’s standard on most other drums. The result is a more exacting tuning process.
Drum Heads
DW’s own Coated/Clear heads, manufactured by Remo USA come standard on all DW drums and incorporate a coated tone ring for just the right amount of muffling with plenty of resonance. Crimped flesh hoops provide maximum vibration and durability. (U.S. Patent #5920021)
