i got this unit about 2 years ago. the first thing i noticed is that it's fairly small, pretty basic, rugged external look, but cheap internal feel. what i mean by this is that it's made of sturdy plastic and metal, but i can hear clattering and shaking inside the unit when i pick it up and set it down. anyway, my biggest problem is that about 14-16 months after owning it it started to become faulty (screen not working, the unit freezing, stuff like that). i kinda put it away for a while and forgot about it and recently opened it up again. put new batteries in, plugged up and started to play. this time it was totally out of order, batteries kept falling out.
point is: if this is a short term multi-effects box for a beginner-amateur or as a gift, perfect; if not, you might want to look somewhere else

I'm teaching myself, but I spend a few hours every single night practicing. SO i figured I would go out and buy an effects pedal to enhance my sounds. At first I was amazed, the variety and assortment of things were seemingly endless, and I was very excited. But I would spend hours pouring over the 30 page instruction booklet trying to figure out how to program it myself to get the sounds I specifically wanted. It took away from my learning and practing and quite quickly grew on my nerves, [...]THEN AGAIN, I'm about as tech savy with this stuff as a goldfish. If you have trouble following computer instucitons, youll be banging your head against the wall with this thing.**The effect I wanted most was the Wah-wah, to get a sweet clapton-esque sound off my strat, but IN ORDER TO GET IT TO WAH(along with a select varitey of other sounds), you need a seperate extension pedal, and most after market things dont work with it. **Buy the RP90, spend the extra $20 and you wont be dissapointed.

Confusing to use. Even with the instruction booklet it took me a few minuets to realize it wasnt what I expected. It's great, has huge selection of effects, especially like the Drum tracks which helped add more rythem and beat to my playing. HOWEVER. *****Please note what DOES NOT come with package. The Wah Wah effects, for example, can ONLY be accessed through an additional pedal. There are others as well. Very dissapointing in that respect, however overall solid product just make sure its what you want

I use to have multiple pedals for each effect I wanted to use, thinking I'd be able to tweak each pedal to each song more precise to what I wanted. This pedal does all that in one unit. It's like getting all the pedals I wanted for under a dollar apiece, plus a tuner, plus a drum machine, all that and a power supply thrown in. Great cabinet sounds, great live and for recording. Very light weight unit, more metal construction would make it more durable but this probably keeps the price down. Just don't stomp on it, tap it and it will be fine.

This is my third Rp pedal. I had a RP200,still own a Rp100. and this Rp70. The distortion on this pedal is a great improvememt over the earlier models. I have found myself stuck on the tube screamer model. Having owned a Vodoolab sparkle drive I can really appreciate the tone the Rp70 generates. It also works well on clean settings with my boss ds-1. I find it great for gigs where we have run on stage, play three or four songs and get off. I use a carlo robelli hollowbody and a 70's Vibolux Reverb.
The Rp gives me a great jazz sound, smooth distortion, And great Rock hi Gain too. Well worth the money.

plenty of effects. the built in drum machine is perfect for jamming by yourself. for the price i am very satisfied!peace

I bought this unit today. I must say i was pleasantly surprised. I bought it with hopes it would have that cheap-pedal distortion sound. The really choppy distortion you get with the pedals under [$]. But after some tinkering with it. It actually sounded very decent. Lots of good sounds can come from it. Good distortion. I was able to get very refined distortion as well as the cheap sounding distortion i was looking for. Overall this is a great pedal for beginners as well as all around users.
