The Hot Head Distortion is a multi-purpose pedal for any music style where distortion is needed. Armed with flexible Low, High, and Gain controls, the Hot Head can dial in just the right tone for your setup. If you just want a little dirt or you need your amp to sound like a full stack, the Hot Head lets you rock with the best.

Level - controls the distortion output level of your guitar signal.
Low - adjusts boost and cut of bass frequencies.
Gain - provides mild to hot tube amp distortion.
Dual Outputs - The Amp output is for connecting directly to a guitar amplifier. The Mixer output’s Cabinet Emulation circuitry lets you connect directly to a mixing board or recording device without having to mic up an amp.

I use it with my ibanez GSR190 bass and it sounds pretty awesome. With the gain all the way up its so distorted it wants to rip your face off. Great pedal!

Here's the dilemma: you could drop hundreds of dollars on ONE or two boutique distortions that give you a great vintage sound like the TS808 or Maxxon counterpart. You could spend a hundred on a great metal distortion like the Hardwire or Boss Metalcore. And you could compromise with a digital modeling pedal that'll try to capture samples of everything in between. It just seems that there aren't a lot great analog pedals that dial in great contemporary rock distortion. You're either looking at vintage crunch or rumbling metal. So that's my problem. I needed headroom for a few of my songs that require modern saturaded chug but that ultimately weren't quite metal or hardcore. This pedal took care of my problem without breaking my bank. It's an upgrade from my Boss DS1 in that it gives you EQ and more range. You get both cleaner and raunchier on the Hot Head. You have two output bays. And the price is right. It's a great analog complement between my Tubescreamer and my metal distortions. It fills that role well. It's not quite as shimmery and articulate as the boutique pedals or even a Hardwire distortion but it isn't muddy or cheap either. It's just a great contemporary distortion - a solid choice in context.

This is a good pedal. Its fun to play with once in awhile considering i like to play metal. So its fun to play somthing different. The batterie life is horrible though. Get a AC adapter and your be good to go.

It is a great product. But it sucks up 9 volt batteries like nothing. If you're gonna get it get a AC adapter to go with it. otherwise you'll end up spending as much money on the batteries as you did on pedal. An overall good investment.

I've strange buzz, when i play this pedal with Morley Bad Horsie 1 wah before this. I have hot pickups, and morley has boost. So,(in this configuration) it have a harshness and some buzzy fuzzy sound like octavia or Hendrix solo in Purple Haze. I have the same problems in boss ds-1. I looked for killin wah solos, but it gives me a...
Independent effect gives hot tube like marshall sound. With less middle frequensies( i dont like this)

All Digitech mutiprocessors--RP and GNX units-- the Whammy, and the JamMan, have a one year warranty from the manufacturer. All X-Series pedals and analog distortions(Bad Monkey, etc.)have a one year warranty, but if the new owner registers online at digitech.com, the warranty goes to 5 years on the X-Series and analog distortions only.
