First of all, I'm a female musician/songwriter. Girls Rock! I purchased my Dean EVO XM [...] about a year ago. I played it a while then put it down for quite a few months (extenuating circumstances). I'm now picking it up and playing everyday. I'm a beginner, so I can't say how this guitar is for heavy playing, but for a newbie like me, it's been great. It holds its tune well, feels solid, looks beautiful in the mahogany color and black accents. Even though I purchased mine cheaper [...] It's a great beginner to intermediate guitar.As for the guy below who's only comment was a complaint about it not looking like the photo; well it looks just like the photo only a little darker with a subtle red color. Obviously that criticism is not from a professional.....or even a novice.

Very nice for a first guitar. I am just learning how to play so I really did not want to spend a lot of money, this is a great first guitar.

This is a good beginner guitar, it has a nice light feel and a nice impressive look. The only thing that bothers me is little things like the tuning pegs and knobs not beings a nice feeling as they could, and the neck isn't as smooth as i would like. It's at best an average guitar. Worth the money.

This was the first real guitar i bought after reading reviews ,and lots of research. As well as actually playing variuos guitars.(have a Aria/Baja strat copy)Plays very well with a good amp that is very important with any guitar.I have a crate xt 10 watt sounds good.I highly recomend changing the strings when you get it as i did.I put DR 10's dimebags on it and sounds way better.This guitar is good quality and worth the money for the price,has good sustain and crunch on distortion.Remember it's a base model guitar but still good.Only bad thing is the tuners suck get new ones.(i recomend Grover)I plan on upgrading very soon to an MLX or cadillac if I don't upgrade the pick up's and tuners first.(if you do you'll have a 500.00 guitar) Dean is good quality this guitar sounded better than my friends Fender highway 1 and his Les Paul studio through a marshall 250 watt amp. This is one of the best quality beginner guitars out there don't pass it up buy it.You realy can't go wrong for [$].A friend borrowed mine to play out with and it did well he loved it and bought one as a back up. bottom line go buy it.I'm a dean man for life.Dean is better sounding than Gibson and at a lower price for most of them.This one has the les paul similar style body too.If it wasn't for the tuners i'd a gave this guitar 5 stars.Can't say enough about it.

This thing rocks. Played it in the store and WOW was amazed at the sound.Was so easy to play very fast action and is very comfortable, lightweight too. The tuners are ok. For a beginner guitar or a backup get this. This is better quality than most guitars of this level.Good job Dean.Bottom line buy it.

it frets out the tune knobs suck the look is nothing like the pick on this site its flat not a nice les paul its really a performance smasher it sucks

This was my first guitar. It was very playable, portable, and durable. It keeps the strings in tune fairly well, since I had mine for about six months without needing to change the strings. However, it's greatly affected by temperature. Nevertheless, an excellent guitar for a beginnner.
