Boss gives you over 40 effects onboard in the ME-70, divided into four groups with a corresponding footswitch for each one. Use the ME-70 footswitch in “Memory Mode” to select any one of 36 patches split among 9 banks. You get Compression, Overdrive, Distortion, Chorus, Flanger, Rotary, Tremolo, Phaser, Octave, Delays, Reverbs and more, all easily selected with the tap of of your foot. There are 36 patch presets to get you going out of the box and an additional 36 user locations to store your custom settings. Hands-on, tactile control is the name of the game with the ME-70. Built in to the Boss ME-70 is Boss’ famous COSM preamp modeling which recreates the precise characteristics of famous guitar preamps. It serves as the foundation of your guitar tone as effects are then added to sweeten or annihilate…whatever your situation calls for.

I have been using boss effects for over twenty years and was exicted when I picked up the me70. First of all the unit is constructed like a tank but upon use has some flaws.. the volume/wah pedal works sometimes. The effests are decetn but not excellent. We so many functions and effects packed into one box you have to expect alittle comprimise. Overall worth the money

I had the ME-20 for a couple of years wanting to add a dimension to my sound for pop/alt rock cover performances and it did the job just fine!

The ME-70 expands on it's predecessors (ME-20/ME-50) with a nice compression section and amp emulator (no need for an amp at some venues?) I don't do that but truly… With all the extras that clutter up a board using separate pedals this has and has well enough to ditch a lot of your old pedals… Tuner, Noise Reduction, (very usable) Wah, Compression, OD/DS, Modulations and Delays without even scratching the surface of the Memory Mode section that you can combine effects all in one!

The downside for me is the overall appearance doesn't lend itself to discerning pedals with ease while performing (the black base and black pedals are hard to see) and too many lights bouncing around when in Memory Mode (one pedal light is on then you switch to another subsequently lighting up the next SET of effects combinations) adds to distractions and mis-hits when looking for the next pedal while performing. (I solved that by putting a small piece 'painter's tape' over the effect's lights that you can still see if they're on but darkens it up just enough. Not the best thing BUT a solution none the less!)

Bottom line… Very professional unit, tons of features, great price, very close, if not AT the same level of individual effects!!!

I've only owned this unit for a few days,but I'm not new to it's performance, one of my fellow musicians owns one.I admit it took me an hour or so to learn how to use the presets and usersets,but once I caught on it became easier by the minute.This baby has all the sound without the hiss.It sounds awsome coming through a peavey amp with any of my guitars (Gibson SG;Ibanez AR-73;Fender Strat),although each guitar sounds different on the same settings,they each sound great.I own sereral other brands of multi-effect pedals along with individual stomp boxes,I put them all away once I learned how to use this baby. Try other brands first if you want,then try this one.I'll bet you'll buy the BOSS!!!

[...] I have used Boss Effects for over 20 years, used Guitar Synthesizers. Great sound and quality for price. Bought my ME70 May 2009. Loved it, great sound, easy to use. January 24, 2010 worked, next night did not. No sound. Looks as if it worked, but no sound. Called tech support, went thru troubleshooting. Nothing. Now I have to send it (appx $20-30) + pay for labor (1 year parts warranty, 90 labor). Most not be the Boss quality I have entertained over the year. Moral of this story- buy your extended warranty from Sam Ash, because you will need it since Boss quality does not cut it. the warranty is only as good as the quality of the product, in this case, not.

If you hate scrolling through endless menus on an LCD screen, this unit is for you. Less time scrolling and more time playing.

The effects sound great, they are easily turned off and on, and the amp models are very useful.
