I've played guitar for 50 years and this is the only pedal I own. I've played it through numerous tube and SS amps from different companies and it makes them all sound like a FDR. The excellent reverb can get "clacky", but can also be enhanced by the reverb in your amp.

I even use it with my 65 Princeton to get just a tiny bit of crunch, but it is capable of a lot more.

Just a great pedal.

This pedal is a great companion for the low watt single channel tube amp with which I am using it. It allows me to add reverb, vibrato or distortion which is a great enhancement of my amp which has great sound but lacks effects. This BOSS Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Amp Pedal does a wonderful job simulating the sound of the amp for which it was named. Teamed up with an all tube, low watt amp, it allows me to increase the gain and use my amp in small venue performances, reducing the set up time and weight I have to carry.

The BOSS FDR-1 Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Amp Pedal is a great pre-amp companion for my VOX AC4TV, a small and efficient, tube amp. What I found is that the FDR-1 provides a smooth, creamier sound reminiscent of the Fender tube amps of the 1960's. It takes the AC4TV's characteristic crisp tone (due to the 10 inch combo speaker) and warms it up, while reducing the brightness. As it warms it up, the tone becomes larger than you would expect from this small, but brilliant VOX Amp. To avoid the popping simulation of reverb crashes, keep the gain knob at the lowest possible setting and turn the volume knob up to 12 noon. You will enjoy the sound of the reverb, but use it sparingly, a little goes a long way with this great pedal!

I use this both on my combo amp and my stack. It has a really full sounding clean when you dial the gain back. And when you have the gain up it has a really nice early 60s bite. No this is not for a heavy metal pedalboard,but you can get sounds from Neil Young to Santana to Dick Dale. The reverb is authentic sounding and not digital, and the vibrato is a nice touch for jazzy or smoother blues stuff. If you want a great pedal for REAL music that wont fail on you, check out the FDR-1.

This pedal is a must for the vintage 60's sound. I don't know what guy in the first review was talking about...its not supposed to make a whole bunch of effects. The reverb and vibrato are sick. You can also turn them down for a good blues sound.

Use This pedal in front of your tube amp and close your eyes you'll think you have a 65 right there with you, the reverb is OUTSTANDING!!! THe tube distortion is untouchable.. throw away your TS9 tube screamer cause this IS the real deal.
