Avid 64 bit Expansion Chassis for Pro Tools HD
Extend the Capabilities of Your HD Accel System! The Avid 64-bit Expansion Chassis makes full track counts in the Pro Tools|HD environment a reality — 192 tracks at 44.1/48 kHz, 96 at 88.2/96 kHz, and 36 at 176.4/192 kHz. MAGMA's patented PCI Expansion Technology is incorporated into a short “universal” PCI card, extending the PCI bus outside of your host computer. An included 1.5 meter flexible cable provides a high-speed communication link from the computer to the Chassis, providing up to a 264MB/second data transfer rate between the host and the hardware within the Chassis.
Installation is quick and easy, with no special software needed. You simply install the Avid 64-bit Expansion Chassis host interface card (sold separately) in the first PCI slot of your computer and connect its cable to the Chassis interface card. At that point, expanding a Pro Tools|HD system is a simple matter of installing HD Accel cards into the Chassis’ slots, rebooting the host computer, and launching Pro Tools. Cards installed in the Chassis actually behave as if inside the host computer, so you enjoy optimal data transfer rates and full track counts along with room to grow.
A perfect complement to the modular, power-on-demand nature of Pro Tools, the 64-bit Expansion Chassis also ships with an ample 400-watt power supply and extra cooling at no additional cost. Note: the host card does not come with this chassis.
