The
American
Standard Stratocaster takes all the traditional features that have made the Stratocaster an
iconic solid body electric guitar and, without adding any unnecessary bells and whistles, improves
them with the knowledge gained from Fender's 50 years of guitar-making experience.
For 2012, the American Standard Stratocaster has been improved with Fender Custom Shop Fat
'50s pickups. These have a classic 1950s sound but with “more attitude,” due to their enhanced bass
response. Models with three single-coil pickups feature 3 of these beauties and HSS models have 2
Fat '50s pickups at the neck and middle position, plus a sweet Fender Diamondback humbucking pickup
at the bridge position. Remarkably, the models with these fine custom shop pickups cost only
slightly more than their predecessors:
