Comments about MXR M116 Fullbore Metal Guitar Effects Pedal:

I didn't get to test this thing out in the store. My friend had one but he never plays solos. I got this thing home and I think the sound is abrasive. It's okay for doing chords. But when it comes to solos it blows. It's very artificial sounding to me personally. It has no warmth and is too crunchy. It almost hurts your ears when you have the high up. When it's down it's just noise. I wish I would've kept my [$]

I got this pedal a couple of weeks ago, and there is nothing else like it. Ive tried multiple boss distortions, and other metal pedals. nothing else like it. the built in noisegate is great for live preformances. it cuts out all the humming and the ringing without killing your sound. ive used it for live shows, practices, and recording. i use a Marshall mghdfx100 half stack with a Prs Custom 24, w/JB seymour duncan pickup. this pedal is awesome!

I feel in love with this pedal when I tried it this pedal has the perfect distortion for Metal has great gain on it and built in with a noise gate to reduce that buzzing sound from the high distortion and has a reasonable price for such a compact device that offers great sound and effect to your guitar

Comments about MXR M116 Fullbore Metal Guitar Effects Pedal:

Nice metal pedal. Offers a range of crisp edgy/raspy Dimebag style effects but does not dig down real deep for punchy low death metal sound. It sounds more raspy then deep. It has lots of fine tuning options. The frequency knob is the most fun to play with and can provide some unique effects. I still prefer my old Digitech Black 13/Scott Ian pedal for ultra heavy riffs. But this pedal is useful and I am happy with this purchase. My equipment: Vox Valvetronix XL amp, BC Rich & ESP guitars.
