Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Hollow Body Electric Guitar:

To preface the review if this guitar would have cost over $800 dollars it would have been a 4:

This guitar is amazing. I have played other Hybrids including Taylor T5s and in my opinion it smokes the competition. This guitar has it all great acoustic sound, pretty good electric tones and the top is beautiful. I run it through a Line 6 HD 500 it is a perfect match with the class A pre-amp that came on the latest update. the frets take a while to get use to though. it will go out of tune if you press down to hard, which is not a problem for me but I had a fit with my capo. had to use a shub instead of the kyser, which is a pain live. IT is so easy to play that is makes up for it.

I'm not sold on the rockfield pickup's they are okay. I like classic sounding pickups these are a little hot for my taste. I am using it at church and they are a little high gain geared. ( and we play rocking music at church.)

This is worth getting don't waste your money on these high end hybrids. They are nice but save $1500. Get this guitar this is a gigging musicians dream axe.

I hope to try it in the studio soon to see how it does.

Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Hollow Body Electric Guitar:

This is the most versatile guitar with the widest tonal range of any I've owned. It plays effortlessly, and is quite comfortable to play for long stretches. As one would expect, the acoustic tone is rather thin, but the blended tone and the humbucking tones are outstanding. I play in a variety of styles, both lead and rhythm, and it has proven to be an excellent investment.

Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Hollow Body Electric Guitar:

This is a great looking and feeling guitar. The wooden pickup covers and knobs are such a classy touch. Book-matched Spalted Maple (tobacco burst?)looks nice. Has a solid feel in your hands and when strapped on. Neck a bit heavy and will tend to drift down if I don't hold guitar. When played with lighter strings in store (10s I think) the tall frets and my heavier touch made it hard to play in tune (pressure caused pitch of strings to be sharp). Owner replaced with 11s (D'Adario XLs I think) and problem got wonderfully better. Makes bending in leads a bit more of a challenge, but the acoustic sound is MUCH better.
I've got an electric with the RMC piezo system, and these Fishmans sound nearly as good.
I bought a 15' splitter cord and glad I did. Allows doing a bunch of fun tone/stereo stuff through mixer.
The neck is thicker than I am used to, but is easy to adjust to and pretty fast to play.
I have always been a fan of coil splitting and that was one of the items on the checklist that sold this guitar. Can go from John Prine to Eric Clapton to Bob Marley tunes with the flick of the switches. If you play in a "Deck" or "Beach Party" band, this opens up a whole new world. Does not rock like my CARVIN, but I don't think it's meant to be that kind of guitar.
I use it plugged into multi-effect, then straight into board, and it sounds great (who needs to carry more stuff that you have to!).
Had compared this guitar with the Taylor T5, Ibanez Montage, Parker, and Godin. Best feel, sound, and battery life for the buck (did I mention I hate losing my batteries in the middle of a set?).
I feel comfortable using this when playing with a group of amplified acoustic players. Fits right in.
I got to try this out in the store, but if I had known how nice they were, I could have ordered it online with no worries.
If you get one, I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
