To the Max.

Samson's MD1 Mono Passive Direct Box combines premium sound circuitry with durable, roadworthy construction, providing high-quality signal connection solutions for a variety of live sound and recording applications. The MD1 allows clean, balanced lines to be sent from an unbalanced line or instrument signal to a microphone level balanced input.

Custom STL Transformer
The MD1 features Samson's STL transformer that delivers an extended, flat frequency response with ultra-low distortion. The MD1's balanced output provides a clean signal that is less susceptible to noise than an unbalanced line, allowing for longer cable runs.

Thru Jack
The MD1's Thru jack enables you to tap off the signal from the input and pass the signal to an amplifier or monitor without affecting the original audio. This can eliminate the need for miking guitar amplifiers, which depending on your application may be preferable, especially as more musicians are using in-ear monitors.

Roadworthy Construction
Housed in a 14-guage noise-reducing steel chassis, the MD1 is built to withstand the abuse of the most demanding live tours. Its rigid outer shell protects all the MD1's internal connections, switches and solder joints from failure, ensuring quiet, reliable performance.

Comments about Samson Md1 Mono Passive Direct Box:

This a quite possibly one of the most well built DI boxes I have encountered. If I dropped it on my toe it would break (my toe). Bad jokes aside...Di boxes are a quintessential piece of equipment. Every musician should have one (and even those who dont play instruments). If I run long strands of instrument cable or need to plug in for recording, I use one. They are great to run a bass straight into a mixer. It is great for dj's as well who want to run their computer into a mixer or speaker. They convert the signal to a proper line level and help eliminate signal degradation and noise!

Comments about Samson Md1 Mono Passive Direct Box:

A great DI is a staple for any live or recording rig. The DI is great to take an unbalanced device like an instrument and balance the device to match it's impedance to a mic preamp on a mixing console, audio interface, etc. Simply using a special cable or adaptor might get the connection right but it won't make the sound right. Samson uses a custom transformer to keep your sound clean and free of distortion. Typically a high impedance unbalanced cable run at longer lengths/using adapters etc will get noise, hum, more interference, capacitance, etc. By converting the signal to a balanced line you can run a longer cable run without degrading your sound. Another great feature is the thru put so you can send a signal straight to an amplifier or monitor without affecting the original audio. It also has a ground lift. So if you're on the market for a high quality reliable mono passive DI box but don't have tons to spend you gotta check out the Samson MD1.
