The D-28 -- Martin's flagship Dreadnought model -- is crafted from a classic combination of a solid Sitka spruce soundboard and solid East Indian rosewood back & sides. Paired with Standard "X" bracing with 5/16" solid Sitka spruce braces, the D-28 produces a dark, warm tone with plenty of projection and balance. The potent low end response is beautifully balanced by clear, articulate trebles, making the D-28 a must-have for every guitarist. For superb playability, the mahogany neck is carved into the comfortable low profile shape and supports a 20-fret fingerboard of solid black ebony. The Dovetail neck joint provides optimum strength, great action and free-flowing tone.

Catering to the old-school Martin vibe, the D-28 sports traditional Style 28 appointments including a rosette, back purfling and fingerboard inlays. Additional highlights include chrome Grover tuners, solid black ebony bridge with a 16"-radius compensated bone saddle, a bone nut and a black pickguard. The Martin D-28 comes with the full protection of a hardshell case.

Comments about Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar:

I owned an 80's version of a D-28 and could not adjust to the V-shaped neck profile so I sold it. I never forgot the sound and heard that Martin had changed the neck profile. My new D-28 plays wonderfully and has the perfect guitar sound I have been searching for. Thank-you Martin!

Comments about Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar:

The only other guitar that is in the D-28's class is the Gibson J45 Custom. I cannot pick between the two. The Martin however cost $500 less. If you are looking for projection, combined with incredible tone from top to bottom and great playability, then this is the guitar for you. Bluegrass and folk, this guitar is a legend. Got a great used one at Samn Ash's fantastic Huntington, L.I. store. [...] Try one out. They are hard to put down.

Comments about Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar:

This and the Gibson J-45 Custom represent the pinnacle of acoustic guitars. The D-28 requires no amplification, because it projects its own full and rich sound, which is quite well balanced. I got a used one recently at Sam Ash's incredible Huntington, L.I. store and it was broken in and easy to play. I put D'addario uncoated 12's on the guitar and the harmonics were incredible. If you yearn to own and play a great acoustic guitar which does not require amplification to be heard, consider the D-28. Not inexpensive, but made here and well worth it.
