Pros: The Guild OM140CE is a high quality guitar, made of solid woods that produce a warm, rich tone. Even though the body is slim and is a cut away. Surprisingly, it is not thin sounding at all. For guitars under $1,000, the question is which Chinese factory makes the best guitar? In terms of materials and craftsmanship, this Guild is the best I have seen, compared to a Taylor 414, Yamaha LL16L and an Ibanez AC240M, personally owned. It is complete with a poly foam, modern case with nylon type outer material covering.

Cons: Two days after it arrived the bridge began to pull up and was sent back for a replacement. This is more of a build process issue than the actual material, fit or finish. The sound hole, under mount electronics could be replaced or better configured. Possibly, consider a K&K pure mini.

Ordering sight unseen is difficult, especially with acoustic guitars, and that is why you really should be there, but this is the highest quality acoustic in its price range that I have seen or played, and holds its own with much more expensive domestic guitars.

    Pick out a good one.

This guitar hits on all cylinders for me. The looks, tone, playability and craftsmanship are all what I would expect from a much more expensive guitar. I was originally looking at Taylors but was drawn to this Guild OM-140ce after hearing a clear difference in the complex and warm tone this produced vs the Taylor. My only gripe would be the hard to reach battery pack inside the body that requires loosening of the string(s) to reach. The poly foam case included seems effective and is very light. For the price you'll be hard pressed to find another quality solid wood guitar. No regrets, go try this out.

I just purchased this guitar, but so far I couldn't be happier. For the price the guitar has amazing features not found at this price point, but what really surprises is The mix or great tone, projection, clarity and base! I own some really high-end guitars but this one may be proud-for-pound my favorite.
