Initially intended to be a strictly promotional item, the White Falcon was dubbed "The Guitar of the Future," and was so popular at trade shows that it found its way into the Gretsch model lineup. The White Falcon is widely known as a dream guitar for Rockabilly lovers for its flashy style and killer tone. Although, in a time period over run by Strat and Les Paul players, Brian Jones of The Stones', Roy Orbison, and Joe Strummer of The Clash all rocked White Falcons, showing how versatile Gretsch guitars can be. This vintage piece is in really beautiful condition. There are the usual issues with binding shrinkage, but it is only noticeable near the double cutaway areas and it's not bad compared to most from this time period. There are some scratches & dings here and there, some checking & discoloration on the headstock, a crack in the pickguard, and the truss cover is slightly deteriorated. The guitar has a super straight neck, very nice frets with little wear, and all electronics work wonderfully. There are no cracks or major damage to the body!
It comes with the original hardshell case, which is in excellent condition. All latches are functional and it looks really cool! A spare pickguard is included as well.
Own this classic guitar from the tail end of the Gretsch "Golden Era" (before production quadrupled due to a certain band from Liverpool). Many consider pre-'65 the cream of the crop, and the most desired of the Gretsch line. It's sure to turn heads and be the prized jewel of your collection.
