Nylon string guitarists now get the best of both worlds with a traditional sounding instrument with modern features to suit today’s players. The Taylor 214ce-N Acoustic Electric Guitar boasts a Sitka Spruce soundboard with Taylor’s “X” bracing and a gloss finish. Sitka Spruce grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for soundboards, but for internal bracing, as well. The back and sides are constructed from layered Indian rosewood.
The 214ce-N also features Taylor's Grand Auditorium body style, which is a slightly smaller body that is similar to the classical body shape, yet delivers that huge tone. The 25.5” scale neck is carved from Tropical Mahogany. You will love the ease and playability of the fast, thin profile of this neck and 20 fret ebony fingerboard. White binding offsets the glossy natural finish beautifully. The 214ce-N also features a rounded Venetian cutaway on the lower bout to allow access to those upper register frets when you want to expand your lead playing into new territory.
The Taylor 214ce-N features Nylon-String Fan Bracing. Fan bracing is a completely different bracing style that is used on Taylor's nylon-string models. It was inspired by patterns used by classical guitar builders. Because nylon strings generate less tension, a nylon-string guitar typically has a thinner top and much lighter bracing. Taylor's unique ladder-style pattern produces a signature Taylor nylon-string voice: an “open” sound that’s clear and bright, strong on the treble side, and long on sustain.
When it’s time to plug in and hit the stage, the Taylor 214ce-N features the Taylor ES-N. Like the the ES-T, The ES-N is a single-source, under-saddle transducer, but the preamp design and tone controls were customized to complement the nylon-string voice. Taylor's standard ES control knobs enable plenty of tone-shaping and preserve the natural design aesthetic. The 214ce-N is equally at home on stage, in studio, or the front porch. A Deluxe Taylor Gig Bag is included.
