The Washburn PXL20B features a Babicz Full Contact bridge that highly improves string to body sound transmission, increasing sustain and overall acoustic volume. The set neck with its full access neck joint allows completely unrestricted access up to the last fret. Your fretting hand will be able to play all over the neck without having to change position and the Super Jumbo Frets allow more precise and faster playing.
The Washburn PXL20B is loaded with a Seymour Duncan Jazz neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup. This guitar is designed for rock and metal and the pickups were selected to deliver that tone right out of the box. The Series/Parallel switch for each pickup gives maximum tonal versatility, but still without the hum.
The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is a tempered tuning formula, which uses a compensated nut and saddle to correct the inherent intonation problems of the Western tuning formula. The system that Buzz devised has been a godsend to guitarists. Fans of the system include Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Liona Boyd and Andy Summers. The Buzz Feiten Tuning System is standard on all USA made Washburn guitars and basses and is featured on select imported models. Washburn is the only major guitar manufacturer to incorporate the system as a standard feature on production guitars.

Comments about Washburn Parallaxe PXL20B Electric Guitar:
Frets, Bridge, Action and Sustain Qualities
The Washburn Parallaxe PXL20B has great sustain due to the Babicz full contact bridge, which highly improves string to body sound transmission. The full contact bridge also allows for warm lower end tones and acoustic tones are simulated well. The bridge is designed so that it is curved which makes it very comfortable when palm muting and does not hurt/cut the guitarist during use. The curved bridge houses contoured nuts which limit string breakage. The super jumbo frets are great for players who love to bend notes frequently. The large frets which the Washburn PXL20B uses means that the string can be properly fretted without your finger touching the fingerboard at all which allows for smooth controlled bending without finger stubbing on the fretboard. This also means that the player can precisely hit their desired note and vibrato with ease. This allows the musician to have a very light touch and produce clear notes without much pressure which also makes it easier for shredding and to play fast and accurately. The super jumbo frets are very wide which give the parallax a much fatter and warmer tone. The super jumbo frets produce crisp, clean notes with ease when tapping, hammer-ons and pull offs and for legato playing. The large frets also contribute well to the sustain quality as more metal in any fixed component means a greater vibrational transmission between string and wood. The tall frets however do impact the intonation slightly depending on how much pressure the player uses when fretting the strings. The lower neck area has a more noticeable effect in terms of tonal changes if the string is fretted when a lot of pressure is applied. The higher up on the neck, the intonation is relatively stable, meaning that the amount of pressure used to fret the string does not have much effect on the intonation. Being a one piece guitar, there will be some contribution to an increase in sustain due to this construction design as compared to a bolt on neck. The guitar consists of a solid body made from mahogany which is a relatively heavy wood which holds sustain very well. The action is set low which allows for high speed playing. The action is setup perfectly so that there is no fret buzz occurring when any of the strings are fretted due to the design construction, along with the Babicz Bridge and Buzz Feiten Tuning System. The string height is optimally positioned so that tone quality is not compromised while being low enough to allow for high velocity playing.
Stability and Tuning:
The Babicz full contact bridge is used effectively along with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System which solves tuning and intonation problems. The nut is precision machined from high quality graphite for superb tonal response. The strings are moved closer to the first fret a precise distance based on the scale length, fret width and string gauge of your guitar and the Babicz Bridge is adjusted according pitch offsets. All these features create a balanced intonation over the entire fingerboard so that every string is perfectly intonated on every fret. The Washburn PXL20B comes with Grover 18:1 locking tuners which hold tune well. The guitar is fitted with a graphite nut helps keep the guitar in tune and also limits string breakage. These features accommodate a player who is highly aggressive in terms of how 'hard' they play with regards to bending and the amount of pressure used to fret the strings.
The PXL20B is a one piece guitar which is constructed with a total access neck. The neck is shaped to a full access neck joint and it is contoured to flow smoothly into the body which allows completely unrestricted access up to the last fret. The fretboard is made from ebony consisting of 22 frets with beautiful mother of pearl inlays. The neck is in-between a low profile neck and a medium neck thickness which is contoured to a D shape profile. The fret ends are filled down and finished off with a cream binding and shaped to be comfortable when hand positions are shifted along the neck so that the user is does not feel the fret ends and/or get cut.
The PXL20B comes with Seymour Duncan Jazz neck pickup and Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup. There are two volume controls, one for each pickup, and a universal tone control. Each volume pot is a push pull pot which when pushed in, selects the series wiring configuration, and when pulled out, the parallel wiring system. The series wiring creates a warmer thicket tone, while the parallel wiring produces a more single coil, thinner tone. There is a slight volume drop when the parallel wiring is selected. The system still preserves the hum cancelling properties of the pickups no matter is series or parallel wring is selected. With this system, the user can blend various desired tones and dial in their exact sound due to this versatile configuration. The pickups are high output pickups which scream when cranked up. A noticeable quality that comes through is the tone and capturing of pinch harmonics which the pickups harness well. The guitar has incredible sustain qualities due to the reasons mentioned earlier. The pickups produce a very clear, crisp sound when being used with a clean tone. The pickups also have a beautiful quality which produce acoustic sounding tone variations when being used on a clean channel.
The guitar is a precision guitar. It is built for playing fast and accurately which is used mainly in the Metal genre. However, the hardware that guitar comprises is also suited for rock music and can even be lent into the blues genre. The Grover locking tuners and Buzz Feiten Tuning System allow for heavier gauge strings to be used as well as can take more aggressive playing with respect to bends and fretting. This means that rock guitarists (and even blues musicians) can abuse this guitar without it slipping out of tune or having stability issues. The Super Jumbo frets were primarily used by blues musicians such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, which has desirable qualities (mentioned earlier) which work well for Rock and Metal guitarists alike. The low action is desirable for shredding and high velocity playing which is necessary for playing Metal but can be used in Rock music as similar qualities lend itself to the Rock field. The neck profile is basically in-between a traditional Rock and traditional Metal guitar, consisting of a medium thin profile, which means that this guitar was designed to be used in Rock and Metal music. The versatile electronic setup allows the user to dial in pretty much any tone they desire whether it be a thin country twang, or a thick warm Jazz tone. The PXL20B is aseptically floating between a metal and rock look. The body is designed to be similar to that of a Les Paul shape which contributes well to its Rock aesthetic but the neck and cutaway contribute more to being a Metal guitar.
