  • Description

The Takamine EF360S-TT offers all the sonic and visual splendor of a vintage acoustic without the vintage price tag. Featuring a traditional non-cutaway Dreadnought body, the EF360S-TT pairs a solid "thermal" spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides. The top has been temperature-aged to give this brand-new guitar that warm, well-played sound that you'd normally only expect from an actual vintage acoustic. When paired with the classic body shape and solid rosewood back & sides, the EF360S-TT offers a rich, full-bodied sound with some extra sonic horsepower on the low end. The  neck is carved from mahogany and topped with an ebony fingerboard that features a cozy 45mm width at the nut. Catering to the classic vibe, the EF360S-TT showcases grained ivoroid binding, a faux tortoise shell pickguard, open-gear butterbean tuning machines and an understated "T" headstock logo.

For modern flexibility and natural-sounding acoustic amplification, the EF360S-TT comes fitted with Takamine's critically-acclaimed Palathetic pickup along with the stealth TLD-2 line driver preamp. Not only does the pickup faithfully translate the natural acoustic voice of the EF360-TT through any amp or PA system, but the hidden preamp helps maintain the vintage look. Comes dressed in a gloss natural finish and comes complete with a hardshell case.

I decided to o by a Calamine site unseen. Here are my thought on this guitar.

A gorgeous dreadnought, 3/16 wider than my Martin dreds, 1/4 " longer over all. Factory setup very high did setup myself plays great 3/16 at 12 th fret. Very little relief in neck. Plugged in sound is great . More so with a fish man Aura pedal.
Unplugged even sounding more like a Gibson than a Martin which was the sound I was looking for. I have decided to keep the guitar and not send it back. Note: the neck is huge.

I was originally looking at the ef360 Glenn Frey and came upon this beauty. For a lower list price you got solid spruce top and solid rosewood sides and back. The Frey model is lamenent sides. Also this beauty has an ebony fret board rather than rosewood. Took a chance on the pre-amp, but unless you are constantly changing your levels, this works great. Also because the body has not been compromised by cutting in the pre-amp, the sound is full. The combination of no exposed pre-amp and the aged top gives this guitar an amazing sound. I totally get why they made it with the old style tuners and non exposed pre-amp. Really looks vintage. I have a 46 year old Martin d-35, and while it is slightly different in tone, it has a big sound. I was totally blown away by this guitar and would compare it to something $1,000 more expensive. Hand made quality, made in the Japan pro shop. This guitar is definitely going to be very popular.
