Arturia's Microbrute is a powerful, all-analog synth built into a surprisingly small desktop footprint (13"x9"x2"), based on the design of its slightly-larger, award-winning sibling, the MiniBrute.

The MicroBrute is an an Enhanced Oscillator designed synth with fully-analog based path, USB/MID compatibility and CV/GATE connectivity, as well as a new matrix patchbay. Built with simplicity in mind, it stays true to the tradition of its older brother while adding even more convenience.

Steiner Parker Filter
The synth also utilizes the multi-mode Steiner-Parker filter, which includes a lowpass mode like most other synths, but also Bandpass, and High-pass, making it a highly versatile and praised boutique filter. Normally costing more in its stand-alone form,  the MicroBrute includes it in its design, making it a lower-cost version of the SP Filter, as well as a versatile instrument all its own, yet SP developer Nyle Steiner has approved and praised this integration into the overall design.

The idea was to make a smaller synth that retains the possibilities as the Mini, but with additional features. Built solid and specifically built with an external power supply to reduce noise. Saw square triangle wave controls can actually be given great overdrive when turned up

The new Overtone function changes the pulse width ratio utilizing fifths above, giving it a two-oscillator sound with just one, adding another harmony through the overtone resulting naturally from this effect. As with the the MiniBrute, the MicroBrute processes external audio sounds through Audio Input control, but this synth also serves as the perfect great expansion unit for the Minibrute connected through the CV Gate inputs and offering complete MIDI and USB connectivity as well, making it a complete portable solution.

Brute Factor
Inspired by a truly analog function, much like amp anomolies from electric guitar feedback that shaped rock from the late 60's and on, a feedback loop inspired overdriven distortion normally requiring improperly-matching connections within the synth...One of those things you weren't supposed to do, that turned into a great accidental discovery. Now you can get the same fantastic grunge and personality just by raising the Brute Factor knob up. This is yet another example of a natural sound effect phenomenon you can only get from pure analog sound.

Step Sequencer
Though the Microbrute "maintains its innocence" as dedicated analog synth avoiding too many bells and whistles to interrupt your creativity and workflow, it includes the "WayCool" Step Sequencer, giving you the ability to with with up to 64 steps that can be stored in internal memory, staying there even after shutting it off. As simple as it needs to be, using the TAP TEMPO button, you can create a rhythm and play your sequence. On playback, you can trigger and tweak it with the synth's features. The memory stores up to eight sequences internally and archive them on the included editor software.

Comments about Arturia Microbrute 25-Mini-Key Analog Mono:

This unit provides that fat analogue sound you'd expect from voltage controlled oscillators. There are no presets on this guy, so it's back to basics programming. Arturia was nice enough to provide templates that are like psuedo presets, including blank ones to mark your own. The limitations are inspiring, and you can really learn subtractive synthesis with this unit.
