Realize your piano potential with a Yamaha ARIUS digital piano. Digital piano with GHS keyboard with matte black keytops, and Pure CF Sound Engine voices.

The Arius YDP-142 is piano quality only possible from Yamaha. PureCF sampling starts with a meticulous recording of Yamaha's acclaimed CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano. This recording contains a number of dynamic levels from pianissimo to fortissimo, so you can experience the delicate touch of a soft passage or the pure power of two-handed chords.

Authentic to the touch
A weighted action with heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end is just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano. To make the YDP-142 be your favorite, you can select touch sensitivity from 3 types - hard, medium, or soft - depending on your finger strength or playing style. You can play with your favorite keyboard setting which matches to you.

Smooth, continuous pedaling
Continuous or half-damper pedal control provides detailed nuance and subtlety experienced when pedaling on a grand piano. This is done by allowing continuously increasing amounts of note sustain, from slight to full, as you depress the sustain pedal deeper.

True sound that resonates
Damper Resonance digitally reproduces the sympathetic interaction between strings on acoustic pianos. When the damper pedal is used in a performance, the harmonics of other strings wash over the notes you play until the pedal is released.

Optimal tone at any volume level
The Acoustic Optimizer is a new, unique Yamaha technology. Using a special design and position within the instrument, the Acoustic Optimizer physically adjusts the acoustical flow, which controls resonances and enriches the overall sound. The combination of Acoustic Optimizer and digital technologies provides an incredibly expressive capability.

Capture your performance
The built-in, 2-track song recorder is a great way to capture a performance and play it back to hear your progress. You can also record the right and left hands separately for hands-separate practicing at any tempo you're comfortable with. Now you can practice one hand, while song recorder plays the other.

Discover an inspiring combination
Combine two Voices together, like piano and strings, for an inspiring new playing experience. Nothing livens up piano practice like playing a piece with a different sound, and combining two sounds together takes that creativity a step further.

Ready to play, side-by-side
Up to two people can enjoy playing the piano together in total privacy. Practice as much as you need before unplugging the headphones to let others hear your progress.

A piano with its own repertoire
50 classic piano songs are provided in the built-in song memory and also as a music book, "50 Greats for the Piano." Learn how to play these pieces at your own pace either one hand at a time or at a reduced tempo. Or just listen to the songs as background music.

The power to play more
Provides enough horsepower for dropout-free performances even while layering two Voices and playing two-handed, sustained chords with heavy pedaling. So as you become a more advanced player, your digital piano can respond to your skill level.
Perfect for beginning students and experienced players alike, the Yamaha ARIUS YDP-181 digital piano provides true piano sound and feel. As one of the best piano manufacturers for the concert stage, Yamaha knows how to put all the subtleties of tone and keyboard action into a digital piano. The Graded Hammer keyboard and AWM Dynamic sound makes the Arius YDP-181 a true joy to play, both in practice and in performance.

The 3-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling Voices deliver remarkably authentic sound. The Yamaha YDP-181 incorporates a USB device port for storing songs recorded on the instrument. Moreover, the damper pedal includes a half-damper effect, giving you nuanced expressive control over the sustained sound. Dual Voice capability lets you play two different instrument sounds at the same time, while a 2-track song recorder allows you to capture your original musical ideas and performances.

FEATURES:

Graded Hammer (GH) Keyboard
Just as on a traditional acoustic piano, lower notes on a GH keyboard have a heavier touch, while the higher ones are more responsive to lighter playing. GH features an extra key sensor capable of reproducing fast repetitive playing of a single note with perfect articulation. The matte finish of the black keys enhances the keyboard's luxurious appearance.

Variable Touch Sensitivity
Select the hard, medium or soft setting to match your playing style or finger strength. Turn off sensitivity for a fixed response setting, ideal when playing the organ.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) Dynamic Stereo Sampling
The AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) is a sampling system which creates the realism of an acoustic instrument by using digital technology to record the instrument sound and applying high-quality digital filter technology to the recorded audio samples. The waveform of the sound created by playing the key of an acoustic piano differs depending on the playing strength from pianissimo to fortissimo. The AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling can produce such dynamic nuances by recording samples of various playing strengths. The greater the number of samples used, the higher the expression.

USB connectivity for storing and playing music
Insert an optional USB storage device into the USB port to save and transfer your performances.

128-note Polyphony
Conventional digital pianos quickly run out of notes during fast, dense legato passages: sustained notes are cut off as the instrument "steals" notes to make room for new notes. A maximum of up to 128-note can be played at once.

Damper Resonance
Damper Resonance samples provided the rich and broadening tones produced in pedaling. Using these comprehensive gradations, YDP-181 model can realistically reproduce the complex sounds of a grand piano.

Song Recorder
The built-in, 3-song performance memory allows you to record a song, and then step into the spotlight and solo over it. Best of all, you can change tempo or Voices even after you've recorded your performance. There's also a built-in metronome to help you stay in perfect time.

50 Preset Piano Songs
A selection of 50 different piano songs is provided for your listening pleasure. These recordings were chosen for their beauty as well as their functionality. Since many of the songs are classic piano pieces, anyone taking lessons can listen to them for reference.
