Ultra-portable production pad.
The LPD8 laptop pad controller is a USB-MIDI controller for musicians, producers, DJs and other music creators. It measures less than 13 inches across and weighs less than a pound to easily fit into a laptop case, backpack or messenger bag for extreme portability.

The LPD8 is based on Akai Professional’s MPC line of iconic music production stations. Producers who love the feel of the MPC and want to work with software on their computer will find that the LPD8 gives their laptop the controls they prefer over a mouse and keyboard.

The LPD8 has eight orange light-up pads that are velocity sensitive for programming rhythmic or melodic parts. The pads can also send program-change information to software. Additionally, the LPD8 has eight assignable Q-Link knobs you can assign to virtually any parameters in their software for hands-on control.

The LPD8 works plug and play with Mac and PC and requires no software driver installation or wall power for operation. It has four memory banks for programming and recalling settings appropriate to different software programs you use.

Make music in any setting with the LPD8.

Comments about Akai Lpd8 Pad Midi Controller:

The LPD8 was exactly what I was looking for. I just needed a few more switches and knobs to add to my new live laptop VST keyboard rig and this works perfectly. I'm using a VST host that offers great functionality, and the LPD8 is very standard and versatile and works perfectly with it. Plus it's small enough to sit on top of my 88 key controller, and it's USB-powered. The software that comes with it is simple and works just fine and is not a system hog. Now I can control my laptop VST host from my 88-key controller. . . it's just perfect. Plus this fits easily in my laptop bag. The construction seems rugged. Also, the pads light up; in my rig I can set this up so that when a certain feature in my rig is turn on, the pad is lighted, and when it's off, the pad is dark. That's going to be really handy when we're in the middle of the 3rd set and I can't remember if I turned my acoustic guitar back on or not.

Comments about Akai Lpd8 Pad Midi Controller:

It's a good controller for those looking to get started with pads and adaptable surfaces. It works well in Reason 5, and Fruity Loops. The LPD8 obviously doesn't match up to a MPK2500 or a Maschine, but it works well for what it's needed for. Great for beginners to intermediate producers and DJs.

Comments about Akai Lpd8 Pad Midi Controller:

Got this as a gift, so it was definitely worth the money. I've used it numerous times. It does the job it's supposed to do. You basically plug it in and find it in whatever software you use for music. It does not have it's own sounds, so you'll have to use your own. This is not a permanent pad controller but it' s good for starters and/or travelers. Very light weight.
