Adjust your expectations...

By

from DFW, TX

Pros

  • Cool Shape And Finish
  • Decent Pups
  • Small Size
  • Solid Construction

Cons

  • Cheap Machine Heads
  • No Included Gig Bag

Best Uses

  • Couch Practice
  • Teaching
  • Travel

So I am a little surprised at some of the reactions to this instrument. I have found it to be exactly what was described and on par with my expectations. At this price point, you know not to expect top quality craftsmanship, but an entry level product mass-built in the far east.
There are a few little hiccups in the overall cosmetic dept. But the guitar plays well. There are no sharp frets, the neck is nice and smooth the fretboard is very comfortable. The pickups are surprisingly decent, nice an d clear, plenty of bite, and respond well to pick dynamics and volume changes. The guitar has nice, flared strap buttons and is just overall visually interesting.
The machine heads are the only real functional complaint that I have. They are a bit unreliable on the treble strings. There seems to be a spot in one in particular that is a dead spot. If you tune just sharp you must make a dramatic adjustment flat and then very carefully tune back up to pitch. This is a good habit normally, but the degree required here is frustrating. Also, considering the uniqe size and shape of this instrument, finding an appropriate case or bag is likely to be a challenge. It would have been nice to have one included.

Horrible experience!

By

from Las Vegas, NV

This is a really bad guitar, even though the price seems like a good deal the guitar itself sucks, it'd be better to buy a Squier for $100. I would never buy this series of guitar again!
