The Ibanez RG920QM Premium Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar delivers powerful, iconic tone that has been an industry standard for decades. Order yours from Sam Ash Direct today for the guaranteed lowest price.

In 1987, Ibanez unveiled the RG Series, and a legend was born. It quickly became the weapon of choice for hard rock and metal players worldwide and recognized as the ultimate metal machine. The iconic body style is carved from basswood, and is adorned with a highly figured quilted maple top. The 920QM is outfitted with a metal-approved dual Dimarzio/IBZ humbucker electronics schematic along with a 3-way switch to deliver slabs of explosive tone.

The RG920QM also gives you a fast-playing 5-piece maple/walnut Wizard Premium neck. The Wizard neck boasts a thin profile, and a bound rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets and is built for speed, playability and comfort.

The Zero Point System in the Edge Zero II tremolo system makes tuning easier and faster as well as providing stable tuning that will withstand long performances, all while maintaining smooth tremolo playing. Loss of tuning is kept to a minimum, even through aggressive dive-bomb licks or when a string breaks. Gig bag included.

Good, but not great

Pros

  • Good Clean Sounds

Cons

  • Poor Sustain Articulati

Best Uses

Comments about Ibanez RG920QM RG Premium Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar with Gig Bag:

Light weight, beautiful finish (liquid inferno), nice, clear bridge and neck pickup tones. Middle switch positions rob a lot of volume & not very useful. Could not adjust strings low enough to avoid fret buzz or dead spots no matter what was done with the neck or bridge. Still a fast neck. Biggest drawback is due to the light basswood body: poor sustain and very poor articulation on high gain solos. But high gain chording records well due to the clarity of the tone. Good guitar but falls short of a well-made American instrument.

Comments about Ibanez RG920QM RG Premium Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar with Gig Bag:

Played this in the store. When I picked it up I was astounded at how light it was. If this guitar was in a case, you wouldn't think the case had a guitar in it. But this lightness also effects the tone adversely. While playing I didn't feel that this guitar had the one that you get from a solid piece of mahogony/korina/alder. I asked the guitar tech about it and was astounded to find out that this high-end priced guitar was made out of wood used in guitars under $300. For this price you can get a PRS SE (those are great) or even a higher end ltd ESP or schecter. Heck for a little bit more you can get a used Gibson...

Comments about Ibanez RG920QM RG Premium Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar with Gig Bag:

First Ibanez I ever bought I was disappointed with. Pickups have poor sustain and are muddy in the lower register. I have 4 other guitars in the $400 range to compare it with on my amp and settings and this guitar comes in 5th for [$]. Quilted "inferno" finish is pretty but color breaks are ragged along the binding. That's something I don't see on $200 guitars. I did not buy this guitar from Sam Ash - if I had I would have asked to return it and they would have helped me out.

Comments about Ibanez RG920QM RG Premium Quilted Maple Top Electric Guitar with Gig Bag:

I bought this guitar a month ago and decided to wait before providing a review so I could try and avoid the "honeymoon phase" when you first get your hands on a great guitar.I have nothing bad to say about this guitar. The Wizard neck and rounded frets are without a doubt the best feature. Once I picked it up, I decided to sell most of my other guitars. The DiMarzio/IBZ pickups are very versitle and can accomodate anything from blues to metal. This is my second RG, and I will not be swapping these out like I did on my older model. Just an all around great guitar for a great value. I could not be happier with this product. If I HAD to gripe about something, I guess it will be that there is no included hardshell case (only reason it got 4 stars), but the $100 investment for a case to protect this guitar is well worth it. Ibanez has done it again!
