Comments about Hartke B200 1x8" Bass Combo Amplifier:

I was browsing through these pages and realised it's been 3 years since I wrote a review for this amp. I figured I might as well do a rather late update on it. At the time, I said this was an excellent amp. I really thought so. It sounded great. Unfortunately, a couple of months after said review, and not abusing the amp at all, it died on me. It powered up, but no sound unless you crank it really high and all you hear is a weak farting noise. Since I bought it from this place at a deep discount (some sort of open box deal or whatnot-maybe that could have been a clue,) I never bothered to have it serviced since I felt it wasn't financally worth it. It's been sitting in a spare room collecting dust since then. I've moved on to using Fender amps, which I guess I should have done to begin with. They seem more reliable and haven't did this to me. It's a shame, but I'd proceed with caution with this amp. It did sound good, but what good is that when it quits working?

Comments about Hartke B200 1x8" Bass Combo Amplifier:

I picked up this amplifier to use for practice and maybe some old-school 4-track demo recording down the road by using its line out. It has a great sound for what I use it for. I can get a nice warm tone out of it. It is also loud for its size and I haven't really even cranked it yet. I haven't needed to. It also has the ability to unplug the speaker and plug in another one. I thought this was a cool feature as I could plug in a 15" speaker for a bigger sound. I don't think I'd use it for a live situation with a drummer, though. You usually need a bigger amp for that. All in all, it is a simple, compact amp that sounds great for practice or maybe some recording, either demo or even professional. I like it a lot.

Comments about Hartke B200 1x8" Bass Combo Amplifier:

I bought the B200 about a year ago, and have not been disappointed. It sounds great at home and works well for my band's rehearsals (B200 vs. two 50-watt guitar amps and an electronic drum kit.) Amp produces a good, noise-free sound with my US P-Bass, although it does sometimes have trouble with my BBE Sonic Stomp. In the final analysis, the B200 is what it is - a small practice amp - and it excels in that regard.

Beware: The "Line Out" is subject to the main volume knob, so keep that in mind when you plug it into a recording setup or a soundboard. Also, the B200 IS Chinese-made - I would recommend asking the store to take it out of the box for a play-test before you take it home.

Comments about Hartke B200 1x8" Bass Combo Amplifier:

"Just started playing bass and this amp rocks! The equalizer shapes your sound to your liking and the amp does the rest. Headphone jack is great for the rest of the family. Been playing the guitar for 40 years and have seen many different amps. This one is great for the beginner, in the studio or a small club. By the way. Spoke to Larry Hartke today and he is one cool dude. If you see the add call the number and be suprised."
