A seminal collection of images of the glam rock era taken by legendary photographer Mick Rock. Includes outstanding photos of David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, and a host of other characters that defined the movement. “Glam was about make-up, mirrors and androgyny. It was narcissistic, obsessive, decadent and subversive. It was bohemian, but also strangely futuristic. It was Oscar Wilde meets A Clockwork Orange. It was a time we thought would never end. A time so long ago now it seems like a dream. But it wasn’t and I have the pictures to prove it.” -MICK ROCK With a foreword by David Bowie. ‘Mick Rock is one crazy photographer’ Iggy Pop ‘Mick Rock took many incredible photographs of me. He was always a very empathetic collaborator.’ David Bowie.
Mick Rock was born in London and educated at Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied modern languages for his degree and movies and rock ‘n’ roll for fun. He has been a video director, art director, a writer, a photo – collagiste, but is mainly known for his rock ‘n’ roll photography. His primary obsessions are Kundalini yoga, visionary poets, cats, film noir and unnatural blondes. A resident of New York since the early eighties, his ‘lust for the image’ burns as strong as ever as he continues to lens the modern music landscape.
