You are looking at a Taylor PS16ce Grand Symphony Acoustic-Electric Guitar, serial number 1110313100. This is the actual guitar you will receive should you decide to purchase.

The Presentation Series are by far the most tonally and visually enticing acoustics available from Taylor-- built from the highest quality tonewoods and the finest appointments. The Presentation Series acoustics show off the fine artistic and luthierie talents of the craftsmen at Taylor with gorgeous top-shelf aesthetics and a beautiful sound to boot.

The PS16ce is crafted from highest grade Sitka spruce for the soundboard and is combined with tropical cocobolo for the back and sides. Sitka spruce is the go-to tonewood (especially for Bob Taylor) for acoustic guitar tops because of its sonic versatility, yielding an expansive range across the entire tonal spectrum with incredible articulation and clarity, suitable for finger-stylists and flatpickers alike. Aside from exhibiting breathtaking grain patterns, cocobolo is ultra responsive to playing nuances and produces bright, articulate tones. Tonally, cocobolo can be compared to koa except cocobolo yields much better resonance in the bass range. The body also features a contoured ebony armrest and a smooth-lined, soft venetian cutaway, blending both comfort and beauty.

The of the PS16ce top is supported by Taylor's CV bracing with patented relief rout. Typically, due to the slight differences in the contouring in the scalloping, guitars that employ the CV bracing will have better projection and a thick, rich sound without sacrificing articulation. Taylor's relief rout is a technique used to enhance the tone of the guitar by carving a groove along the inside edges of the top to loosen them up. This will provide the top with a little more give, which allows the top to vibrate more freely without giving up its structural integrity, thus resulting in enhanced bass response, increased volume and well-balanced tonality.

The PS16ce takes form in the full-voiced Grand Symphony body. The Grand Symphony body can considered the “big brother” to the Grand Auditorium body style, featuring a bigger lower bout and a waist that's slightly wider, giving the GS it's rich acoustic sound. The Grand Symphony body has incredible volume and projection that's perfect for hard strummers but can also deliver nice fingerstyle arrangements with great clarity, making this the ideal choice for dynamic players. Despite the bigger voice, Grand Symphony body  maintains its balance across the entire tonal spectrum.

The satin finished neck is carved from tropical mahogany and features an ebony fingerboard, bridge and headstock overlay that all boast stunning Nouveau inlays. The headstock also features a mother-of-pearl Taylor logo and set of high-quality Gotoh tuners. Other luxurious appointments that adorn this PS16ce include a cocobolo backstrap, ebony binding, and paua edge trim and rosette.

The Taylor Expression System 2
The Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated piezo-electric sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed pro audio-grade preamp, the ES2 produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the ES2 faithfully conveys the voice of a Taylor guitar.

Behind the ES2 Design: Rethinking the Piezo Pickup
For decades, piezo-electric transducers have been positioned under the saddle of a guitar based on the long-held belief that the string and top vibration cause the saddle to “bounce” up and down. But Taylor’s electronics team, led by developer David Hosler, discovered that the vertical movement is actually heavily restricted, and that the saddle gets “locked down” due to the string tension’s downward pressure. That’s why a traditional under-saddle pickup with piezo-electric crystals often responds with a sound characterized as thin, brittle, brash or synthetic, especially with more aggressive playing.

The saddle’s natural range of movement as the guitar is being played is actually back and forth like a pendulum. That revelation led Taylor’s design team to relocate the crystals from under the saddle to behind it. The new positioning enables the crystals to respond more naturally to the guitar’s energy as it is transferred through the saddle. Three piezo sensors are installed behind the saddle, through the bridge, with three tiny Allen screws that calibrate the pressure of the sensors against the saddle.

Like the original Taylor Expression System, the ES2 features the same volume and tone control knobs. The preamp is similar but with a slightly different gain structure. As a result it will be about 25 percent hotter, which is more in line with other pickups. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.

The PS16ce comes with the complete protection of a Taylor deluxe hardshell case.
