Comments about Ping P2642 Chrome Tuning Gears (Set of 6/3 by 3):

I just purchased a set of these to refurb a friend's guitar (a friend who doesn't really play and had no interest in spending a ton on the refurb, mind you).

Very disappointed that they came w/ plastic bushings. Totally unacceptable IMO. Was very glad I was able to leave the original metal ones on the guitar I was working on.

Personally, I would never be happy w/ tuning keys that didn't tighten down on the top of the headstock w/ a flat nut. I also highly prefer tuning keys that have a screw to tighten the resistance of the individual keys. I purchased a set of pings w/ these features years ago for an old beater acoustic of mine and am still perfectly happy w/ them. Did not see them anywhere online while searching this time though and didn't have time to visit the local music shops.

These were pretty much exactly what came off my friend's guitar though and for the money, these are decent, entry level tuners.

You get what you pay for and these are about what I expected for the money.
