Morphing from a bass amp, to an electric amp, to an acoustic amp the Vypyr VIP is the industry's first Variable Instrument Performance amplifier.

Variable Instrument Input
Once again Peavey Electronics revolutionizes the modeling amp industry. Introducing the world's first Variable Instrument Performance amplifier, the VYPYR V.I.P. The world's first amp that contains Bass guitar, Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar amplifier models. Now for the first time ever using our Variable Instrument Input a single amp can provide amplification for a variety of instrument types.

Not only does the amplifier morph from a bass amp, to an acoustic amp, to an electric amp, it also allows the electric guitar player access to instrument models as well -- another Peavey first! The Vypyr VIP's astonishingly realistic instrument simulations allow users to manipulate the sound of their electric guitar to mimic an acoustic guitar, a bass, a 12-string guitar, and more!

Technology and Tone
Using the combination of a powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processor and patented TransTube analog circuitry, the Vypyr VIP series contains innovative technology to create the most diverse and best sounding modeling amplifiers available. The Vypyr VIPs feature new acoustically ported semi-closed back enclosures, which create an extremely full sound. Guitarists also have access to over 70 amp, instrument, stompbox models and rack style effects, allowing for endless creative options and a completely new range of tonal possibilities.

WYSIWYG and Vypyr Edit
In order to easily view all parameters at a glance, the Vypyr VIP series includes Peavey's WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface. The WYSIWYG interface allows the user to be able to identify the proper position of the encoders from preset to preset. In addition, one control can be used for multiple functions.

VYPYRs new USB bi-directional data and audio port provides an easy way to record, and or connect to our VYPYR EDIT software and store presets, get lessons, and practice to backing tracks while connected to your computer.

TransTube
The Vypyr VIP series leverages the patented Peavey TransTube technology to deliver the most astonishing amp tone in the modeling amp world. The TransTube technology emulates the sound and feel of tube amplifiers through a special design that took three U.S. Patents to cover.

The TransTube preamp tailors the gain level for the desired amount of drive and the power amp responds with natural compression that increases with the amp's volume. The result is a line of amplifiers with widely ranging dynamics and natural "grit," just like a real tube amp.

Comments about Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 20w 1x8" Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

I have owned this amp for a little over 5 months now. After reading reviews of the old Vypyr line I couldn't resist checking this one out. My friends, family, and I were all very impressed by all of the selections/sound you can get out of it. It has every effect you need to get started or just play around with. It is a modeling amp, but it does a wonderful job mimicking the other amps. It is LOUD!! I have never heard an amp thats only 20 watts put out so much sound. I keep it just below "1" and you can still hear it throughout my 1200 square foot apartment. I plan on using this amp for both practice and amateur recording at my fresh built home studio. I could see where this guitar would have a very valid place in a small-moderately sized venue. The reason why I checked "Professional Recording" is due to what I have read about preferences for low watt amps when recording. You CAN NOT beat the versitility of this tiny but powerful amplifier. You can even play bass, and acoustics through it. Great product.
