You are looking at a Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Gloss Electric Guitar Faded Tobacco, serial number 93536. This is the actual guitar you will receive should you decide to purchase. (8 lbs, 8 oz.)

In 1959, the Les Paul Standard made a change to wider, fatter jumbo frets which made it a more facile guitar. The significance of this change wouldn't be felt until the late '60s when Clapton, Bloomfield, Peter Green, and other emerging guitarists discovered its warm, thick BurstBucker voice and fast, smooth and easy-playing neck. Then the Les Paul began its ascent toward ultimate icon status.

While Les Pauls made from '58-'60 consisted of some of the most coveted electric guitars in history, but the '59 bursts are by far the most sought-after out of those 3 years, and are viewed with the highest regards from both guitarists and collectors alike because of their historical significance and their exceeding rarity, with a mere 635 guitars shipped that year. With Les Paul sales diminishing every year since its release in '53, Gibson chose to update the look of the Les Paul in 1958 from a flashy Gold Top finish to an elegant cherry sunburst. While the tops of those first bursts in '58 exhibited very slight, subtle figure patterns and were relatively plain, '59 Les Pauls were crafted with highly-figured tops, making these '59s some of the most prominent instruments in the Les Paul family, even after 50+ years. The Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is a faithful reproduction of these highly prized instruments, with accuracy down to the very last detail.

Although the 1959 Les Paul holds true to the classic ingredients with it's solid mahogany body and maple top, it features slight updates from the specifications of the '58s. The one-piece neck is carved from mahogany into a slightly thinner (in comparison to the '58), yet still comfortably rounded, neck profile, which later became one of Gibson's most beloved neck profiles, still to this day. As a part of Gibson Custom's 20th Anniversary Specifications, the neck features  period-correct 12” radius one-piece rosewood fingerboard with a scale length of 24.75” and classic cellulose trapezoid inlays.

In order to faithfully emulate the authentic vintage tone of late '50s PAF humbuckers, Gibson took a closer look at the design of the originals, employing Alnico III magnets and wound with unequal turns of  42 AWG wire to give this Les Paul that renowned PAF bite. While these pickups are capable delivering a nice, clean tone, but the bumblebee tone capacitors will facilitate a creamy, singing “woman” tone when you roll back on the tone controls.

The Gibson Custom 20th Anniversary Specifications cater to the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissues true vintage vibe by utilizing period-correct specifications which include a set of vintage-style deluxe Kluson tuning machines, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod Assembly with no tubing, accurate body and fingerboard binding and era-correct Aniline dye in VOS or Gloss finish.

The package is completed with a durable Custom Shop hardshell case with a pink plush-lined interior for superior protection of this fine instrument and also includes a Certificate of Authenticity inside the case.
