Comments about Electro-Harmonix Micro Metal Muff Distortion with Top Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought one of these to replace my dying ProCo Rat that I had for about 11 years. The sound was VERY different to my ears at first and took some getting used to. I first tried it out on my ESP that has an EMG 81 and 60 in it. I honestly did not like the sound at first. It made the guitar sound very metallic for the lowest of notes. The range of sounds you can get out of it from active pickups is incredible I do have to say that. After spending a few minutes trying to find a good sound I decided to try my Les Paul out on it. Well, my Les Paul loved it. The tone was very thick and the distortion was awesome. The boost certainly does kick the volume up but it gets a bit too loud and distorted to handle without every little touch of the strings making it scream with feedback. The tone knob is extremely expressive ranging from a very compressed and tight filtered sound to an all out scream. After a while I put my ESP back on and my ears had finally gotten used to the pedal and I started to enjoy the EMG's through it as well. Overall it's a very good pedal for rock and heavy metal. It sounded great for Judas Priest and Rush and even Pink Floyd. A very good pedal for the price and it's easy to use. What else could you ask for?
