The perfect banjo to start your journey towards bluegrass excellence.

The Epiphone MB-200 is a full-size, yet light-weight banjo that is a great as an economy instrument or starter model and sounds like its heavier designed siblings.

Awarded the first banjo patent in the United States in 1917, the Epiphone Company was a pioneer in the development of the American banjo during the rise of the banjo’s popularity during the initial years following the First World War and beginning of the modern Jazz age. Vintage Epiphone banjos are highly prized among antique instrument enthusiasts because of their unequalled quality and detail and the role they played in the evolution of the instrument itself.

The MB-200 features a mahogany resonator body, a maple bridge, and a classic USA Remo banjo head. Remo has been the standard for banjo heads for over 3 generations and perfectly compliments the rich mahogany body, one of the great tonewoods for acoustic instruments. The 26.25" scale mahogany neck, which joins the body at the 20th fret, has a rosewood fingerboard with a 1.25" nut, pearloid flower inlays, a traditional Epiphone banjo headstock with vintage style inlay, traditional floating Rosewood bridge and chrome hardware - including a comfortable chrome armrest. Perhaps its greatest characteristic is that its real banjo sound comes from a Mahogany resonator closed-back design that is deceivingly lighter than you would expect. It comes pre-strung with quality steel banjo strings and comes in an attractive mahogany Red-Brown finish, with a gilded eagle adorning the back on the Mahogany resonator. Vintage banjos suffer from the wear and tear of a century of playing and the hardware often suffers the most. Epiphone’s nickel tuners are designed at Epiphone in Nashville, TN and provide solid tuning and reliability.

Whatever style of banjo play you aspire to, this banjo can help get you there, whether Bluegrass, Jazz, Folk or Fusion, it is a great way to get started or stay in practice at a price that won’t break the bank. Case not included.
