You are looking at a Taylor K66ce Koa Grand Symphony 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar Shaded Edgeburst, serial number 1105064130. This is the actual guitar you will receive should you decide to purchase.

The Taylor K66ce Koa Grand Symphony 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a member of the Koa Series of acoustic-electric guitars. This series offers a variety of body sizes, all with koa back and sides, and a choice of Sitka spruce or Hawaiian koa for the top. Each guitar presents an exotic feast of figure, color and sound. Koa’s visual allure is complemented by the maple edge trim and the Indian rosewood body, fingerboard, soundhole, and heel cap binding. This Koa Series Acoustic-Electric is performance-ready, with a Venetian cutaway and Taylor’s Expression System 2 electronics. This K66ce 12-String features a full-voiced Grand Symphony body crafted from a beautifully figured Hawaiian Koa top, back and sides, which offers a bright, focused shimmering tone that'll age nicely over time to produce a warmer, richer voice with more depth and sweetness. The K66ce also employs Taylor's 12-string bracing featuring their the tone-enhancing relief rout. Generally, 12-string guitars utilize heavier braces than 6-string guitars in order to compensate for the increased tension of having double the strings, and to keep the top from being overdriven. The tops, pin plates and the heavier, non-scalloped bracing are all thicker on the Taylor 12-string models to support the soundboard for adequate resonance.

Renowned for superb comfort and playability in comparison to other 12-string necks, the K66ce features a tropical mahogany neck and an ebony fingerboard with a stunning Island Vine inlay. The headstock comes equipped with a set of Taylor gold tuners and sports an ebony overlay, a maple Taylor peghead logo, and an Island Vine peghead inlay to complement the fingerboard. Other premium all-wood appointments include a maple edge trim, a single ring rosewood/maple/rosewood rosette, and Indian rosewood binding on the body, neck, heel cap and headstock. The gloss shaded edgeburst finish highlights koa's gorgeous aesthetic while the Taylor Expression System 2 provides exceptional amplified tone in both live and studio settings. The Taylor K66ce Koa Series Grand Symphony 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar comes with the full protection of a hardshell case.

The Taylor Expression System 2
The Taylor Expression System 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s proprietary behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated piezo-electric sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed pro audio-grade preamp, the ES2 produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the ES2 faithfully conveys the voice of a Taylor guitar.

Behind the ES2 Design: Rethinking the Piezo Pickup
For decades, piezo-electric transducers have been positioned under the saddle of a guitar based on the long-held belief that the string and top vibration cause the saddle to “bounce” up and down. But Taylor’s electronics team, led by developer David Hosler, discovered that the vertical movement is actually heavily restricted, and that the saddle gets “locked down” due to the string tension’s downward pressure. That’s why a traditional under-saddle pickup with piezo-electric crystals often responds with a sound characterized as thin, brittle, brash or synthetic, especially with more aggressive playing.

The saddle’s natural range of movement as the guitar is being played is actually back and forth like a pendulum. That revelation led Taylor’s design team to relocate the crystals from under the saddle to behind it. The new positioning enables the crystals to respond more naturally to the guitar’s energy as it is transferred through the saddle. Three piezo sensors are installed behind the saddle, through the bridge, with three tiny Allen screws that calibrate the pressure of the sensors against the saddle.

Like the original Taylor Expression System, the ES2 features the same volume and tone control knobs. The preamp is similar but with a slightly different gain structure. As a result it will be about 25 percent hotter, which is more in line with other pickups. This makes it plug-and-play friendly both for artists and live sound mixers.
